Assuming that the PTR notes are correct, Incanters Absorption will only buff your sp if the damage is absorbed by mana shield, frost/fire ward, or ice barrier. For those of you who use this in PVE do you think this will ruin the talent for us and if so what will we spec into instead. I could see using manashield to up your damage would be good for burst considering they are dropping the 5% of health limit but I can't see anyone being able to use it in an actual raid unless they have an insane mana pool

It seems that Frost Warding procs are triggering Incanter Absorption.
So, let's say, without this limit, on a Mimiron fight...
Stand In Rocket. 70% chance to die.
30% chance to negate damage and receive 750,000 spellpower.à
That'll do what? 3shot him?

A few points on this:
1) Incanter's Absorption does not stack forever. What I mean by this is that the SP IA gives you only lasts 10 seconds, regardless of whether you take more damage.
So if you manage to get 1k SP from IA, it'll last 10 seconds, even if you absorb more damage. It'll keep going up, but after 10 seconds, you'll lose the SP. I'm not 100% sure about this... BUt I am PRETTY sure.
2) About whether IA will still be viable... Hmm...
Well, I use Warding on 2 bosses in VoA, 4 or 5 bosses in ICC, 2 bosses in ToC. So... Meh. I'd rather be good on all the fight then really good on just a few. No one cares how good your DPS is on something like Toravon if your DPS is garbage on Emalon. Just for example.
3) About FFB/Brain Freeze change...
There are three types of situations you'll need to account for.
1) The target is frozen(Slowed or not). Use FFB. (crit ahoy)
2) The target is not slowed and not frozen. Use FFB. (Slow ahoy)
3) The target is slowed, but not frozen. Use FB. Fireball does more non-crit damage, which, if you're geared well (Very, very little crit) is what will matter on a non frozen target.
So, it may be worth still using both on your bars and keeping in mind the situation.

That's because you constantly take damage. What I mean is that you can't take 500,000 damage, get the SP from that, then take 1 damage every 5 seconds forever and keep the SP from the 500k bit.

No. The sp from the 500k tick will only last for the 10 seconds. After that, you'll be getting sp from the 1hp hit. It doesn't roll.
