Hey, i recently tried out unholy (im usually blood). It was a little bit lower than my usual blood dps (around 4.5-5k) and im pretty sure i have the rotation down. I noticed that ss was critting for usually up to 4k so it was a little strange to me. Any help with maximizing my dps right now would be appreciated.

This isn't meant to be a really helpful post but...
4k? That's nothing. In tank gear my DK crits for up to 6.5k with heart strike and more like 5k with other strikes...
Somethins wrong but I don't have the time to look at your dude right now. Maybe later :-/

Well for starters, either get the 4p t9 or the 2p t10+2p t9. That's when unholy really starts to shine.
Other than that your spec and glyphs look pretty standard to me. Changing your gear in the above way will increase your dps significantly

Ah ok, well im working on 2 pc t9 +2 pc t10 right now. Should i replace my t10 shoulders with my t9 for the 4 pc set bonus then?

No. Not worth it. Buy I would try to stay blood till u can get 2p t10 and the go back to unholy. Then try saving up emblems so u can get two more pieces of t10 at the same time so u don't lose the t9 2p set bonus till u get the 4p t10 one.

If you're wondering specifially about Scourge Strike's damage, read the tooltip again. You are probably only looking at the physical damage. The shadow damage will never be a crit (technically, that is) and will therefore not be highlighted or bolded by your combat text if you're using such an option.

Depends which combat text you use. In my MikScrolling both parts are showing as crit (bigger font, flashing).

Ah, probably just me not having updated MSBT which has otherwise served me well since Sunwell, then. :p

Your meta is also incorrect, the

is what you want instead of the chaotic you are using, this is because the requirement can easily be filled using a

instead of having to use two blue gems.
While the rest of your advice has been sound, this is where I would disagree. The only time this advice is not true is when you have two pieces with a blue and red socket with a +6 Str bonus or higher. One blue you will meet with a Nightmare Tear and the other with a Sov. Dreadstone, as usual, but in that circumstance, CSD is better than RED.
In the OP's case, your advice rings true. However, be aware that it is not a blanket case.

You forgot that in your argument, with a RED you would be meeting one of the blue sockets with a nightmare tear anyways, so even in the best case scenario where you are gaining a +6 str from your extra blue socket, the 4 str will outweigh the agi vs crit.
No, I did not forget that the NT would completely fulfill RED's requirements. You would (and should) be using the Tear in a blue socket anyway, leaving just one other for the CSD requirement.
It's a "big picture" difference in the sum of the character. The problem with vacuum analysis (and the problem with the RED) is that it does not show the scaling of RED vs. CSD. As your gear gets better and your Strength rises, your crit starts to scale passed a fair number of other stats as Unholy, making the crit from Agi + 4 Str gain from the RED worth less than the raw crit gainsfrom CSD.
For example, at my gear level (avg. 254) Crit is 1.95 and Agi is 1.36.
CSD: 1.95 * 21 = 40.95
RED: 1.36 * 21 = 28.56 + 12.12 (from the extra 4 Str) = 40.68
Soon, at 264 average, the weightings change:
CSD: 2.10 * 21 = 44.1
RED: 1.48 * 21 = 31.08 + 12.12 = 43.2
277 average:
CSD: 2.23 * 21 = 46.83
RED: 1.58 * 21 = 33.18 + 12.04 (Str's weight changes) = 45.22
