nice wall of text, great story....here on the priest forums we tend to be a little more concise, so let me try to paraphrase and see If I get this right:
1. you love PvP and need help in playing a piest in that mindset.
2. You rolled a PvP priest exclusively to heal and found actual joy from doing so.
3. You are generally good at PvP, but in higher lvl's you find that your mana pool is either too small or you are doing something wrong.
4. you are lvl 33
okay, after reading your story, my mind snagged on one bit. The strat to use Holy nova to help screen out stealthed rogues and then deal with them afterwards. If i was to make a stab at your issue, it would be holy nova.
At the end game holy nova is only mana efficient as a healing spell when you have 4+ people actively being healed by it, and only mana efficient as damage if damaging/healing at least 4+ targets actively. The point is that compared to every other spell available to priests, it just doesnt come easily.
Now, I cant say there is any other way to flush out a rogue....but you might need to let them go if you want the mana you need later on in the fight.
playing with the talent calculator I found that Shadow doesnt get its real mana regen until lvl 50 with vampiric touch. however, the new
Glyph of SW:P might be helpful to you now.
at lvl 42 you can pick up 3/3 holy concentration, holy's main regen talent, and as for disc....well...there is meditation at lvl 22.... and a few other talents along the way.....but disc doesnt really shine with mana until lvl 47 when they get Rapture 3/3.
otherwise, the basic consensus of priests is that hybrids do not work. If shadow, then be shadow and forsake all holy spells, if holy, then be holy by staying with a group of players so your stregnth comes out more, if disc, then be that duo that simply wont die.....but trying to mix trees only ends with sadness, honestly I am surprised you complain about mana, and not some other more drastic issue when trying to do both shadow and holy nova.
Parting message. Blizzard has a hard enough time balancing the game at lvl 80, while you had some sucess at the first bracket, dont expect the game to actually be balanced in any way until you get to the lvl 60 benchmark. then it should be fairly consistant up to the end. Yes most talent tree's tend to get their powerful abilities and power at the same depth in the tree....but like i said, blizzard is balancing the tree's for lvl 80, and so they tend to look at the tree as a whole, and say "disc priests survive too long at 80, lets lower this talent on the three tier of the tree to reduce them" and so priests at lvl 30 have to live with it....
