It's not really going to make a difference, avoidance or SS. Actually, not true, SS makes no difference, if you're not going oom.
With regards to avoidance, it just means that you've got less block to reflect Holy Shield with. But that should be the only impact on threat. Going from 30% to 50% avoidance means that you lose 30% of your Holy Shield threat, which is negligible relative to your actual ability damage threat.

Not directly.
The only effect it has is that you don't take as much damage, which means you don't get healed as much, which means you don't get as much mana from Spiritual Attunement, which means you have less mana to use threat generating abilities....if you know what I mean :)
so... how come a holy pally is supposed to put SS on the tank then? I've healed for warrior and pally tanks, keeping SS up on them at all times.. the warrior's have never said anything about rage starvation, and the pallies have never said anything about lack of mana via SA... the mitigation from SS can't really equal out to -that- much, can it?

Jeez, stop using SS as a tank. Use it only if your healer sucks or u have terrible gear (hard to be in terrible gear nowadays tho...)

That's like saying, "Don't get out of voidzones in older content (eg. obs) because they don't hit that hard" while it may be true that it is not needed, it annoys me to hell when people go and get into bad habits.
Its like insurance or pre nup if you would; rather have it and not need it then need it and not have it.

elaborate on this a bit - if your healer is a paladin, don't cast SS on yourself, cause he should be doing it and his spellpower coefficient will make it absorb more.

yeah, I meant it with a hint of sarcasm. The theoretical threat reduction I mentioned in negligible. Honestly, I can't even imagine anyone would actually notice it. Sorry I didn't clarify that.
When I tank, I always keep SS up on myself (assuming no Holy Pally). If there is a Holy Pally, then I'll put my SS on the squishiest or highest DPS.
........
i feel silly for thinking you were serious now.. :)
