Opinions on Druids

I have been interested in rolling a hybrid class for a while, and I am particularly interested in druids, especially feral. I'm used to both the hunter and warlock classes, and I thought a melee/tank would be a refreshing change in play. I understand that Feral DPS is widely considered the most difficult priority system to correctly execute, and this piques my interest in playing them. Am I setting myself up for disappointment? What are some of your experiences with playing druids? Not so much asking if I'd enjoy the class (you don't know my play style :P) rather collecting opinions on the class and how it fits the roles I mentioned.
Thanks in advance!

If you intend to tank, heal, or go balance then the fact that cats have the most convoluted "rotation" in the game is irrelevant, as a polar opposite balance has quite an easy one.
Please disregard makeup man's ^^ little "jack of all trades" nonsense, that no longer holds true, druids by class design are hybrids but once they properly invest their talents they become specialists capable of fulfilling their desired task as competitively if not better than anyone else.
If you like the idea of speed, variety, and and being a part of arguably the most respected class in the world-of Warcraft then welcome to the life of a druid.

Thanks a lot for the prompt responses! Sounds like I'll be rolling a druid.

Cats have to watch timers on 4 buffs/debuffs (well, 5 with FFF, but it isn't exactly hard to keep up) where 2 are finishing moves and 2 are combo-builders (although 1 of them can be performed by another feral or warrior). You also have to watch the timer on 2 DPS cooldowns and any trinkets.
I haven't played any high-lvl casters, but no other melee DPS has the same amount of stuff to watch atleast.
Tanking rotation is a lot easier, which gives you more time to focus on the other aspects of tanking (positioning, adds, cooldowns). The only sad thing about tanking, is that a lot of tanking jewelry is not itemized for you (with parry and block raiting).

The one sucky thing about druids is that you only get to see your gear in Tauren/Night Elf form, otherwise you look the same as every other druid, maybe a different color bear or cat, but your owl and tree looks exactly the same as other players.
And yeah kitty dps can be tricky. In t9s, your dps can range from 4500dps to 7000dps depending on how good you play it, and how much clearcast/extra CP from crit are giving you; or if you use Berserking and TIger's Fury at the "right" time. My Ferocious Bite crits for 25-30k+ dmg when Needle-Encrusted Scorpion is active (and I'm at arm pen soft capped). It is a challenging dps spec to play but when it's properly played it gives high rewards, unlike affliction locks!

Honestly, I only have one 80, and that's my Feral/Feral druid. I have liked most everything about druids since the beginning and after 3 years have only just down leveled anything else (my shammy is level 62 and rising!).
Feral tanking is pretty darn easy. Feral DPS is challenging and engaging. You have a buff, a debuff, and two bleeds to keep track of. On fights with a lot of other stuff going on, it's actually really hard... which is part of the fun.
There are addons like FeralByNight that can help you get used to how it all works, so don't worry about being unable to do it. Roll a druid! They are awesome. And remember, druids are the only class that can fill all four raid group roles!
