Beeing poor is not an excuse for stupid gemming ;o)
You place a red gem in a blue socket in your robe to miss the bonus and then you place a blue gem in a yellow socket in your pants to miss the bonus again. if you replace your gems carefully (the poorer you are the more carefully you should have been in the first place) you could easily add a lot of hit from SP/hit gems in yellow sockets and still keep the same Sp due to socket boni.

well, to be fair the the OP, if you got the yellow socket item first and needed a blue for the meta then you put it in. then later you get a blue socket item but can't afford to go back and replace the original blue gem in the yellow socket.
now, putting blue gems in red sockets is "stupid gemming", what you're describing is just the actions of a poor(currency) player.
that said, gold rains from the sky in this game and there's really no excuse for not having enough gold for gems. particularly given that gems can be bought with unused emblems and stone-keepers shards.

asakawa to the rescue :o) I still have to disagree a bit.
The "stupid gemming" was rather meant as a hint that you could solve your problems by optimising your gems. Another hint -> the best place for a (necessary) blue gem if you lack blue sockets is the prismatic belt socket.
Besides, if you are short on money the last thing you need is continually replacing gems because you put them into the wrong sockets. The 75 emblems of triumph you needed for the head did not miraculously appear in your bag one morning, so you knew that you would be needing 2 blues for a while...lack of "planning ahead" ability is "stupid" in my opinion, because you perform sub par and waste money.

um... what?
my point is the gemming shown clearly isn't stupid. there's no mp5 gems in there or anything. it's just not optimised. getting the cash together to make all the rare gems epic would be a far bigger dps increase than optimising the placement which represents an incredibly small dps increase.
there are times when a clear lack of understanding of the class as a whole is shown in someone's armoury. in those cases one needs to be quite clear about the issues. that doesn't appear to be the case here.
now, the OP never asked a question so i don't really know what they expect to get from this thread.
if they want suggestions i would suggest they give up on the professions they have and take some gathering ones for cash.

jumping to defend someone from a "flaming" post is kind of nice and i appreciate that.
In this context it is only to a lesser extend the gemming itself that i called "stupid" as the waste of money for someone who is poor already by not carefully planning the gems he is using bevorhand, which, if he applies this shortsightedness to other aspects of the game, is probably the reason he cant affort epic gems for ilvl 245 items.

i agree, the main reason for my post is still: No, you should not stay below hit cap and it can easily be avoided in your case by optimizing your gems.
