I just made a priest to level with my friend who just started WoW and I'm wondering how Disc priests fare in end game raiding (I don't care about it's lvling ability) and how they compare to other healers.

Ideally, there should be 1 Discipline Priest in every raid.
Renewed Hope
alone is a great raid buff which is up almost the entire time.
Disc priests make excellent tank healers, and throwing shields on raid members makes raid healing a lot easier. I generally throw raid shields on anyone taking damage and concentrate my healing on the tanks, but it's not impossible to raid heal as Discipline. Our niche is really in tank healing, though, as our shields and Divine Aegis bubbles provide excellent damage mitigation, but don't be afraid to pop a shield on anyone who's taking damage — that shield could save their life.
Take a look at my
logs from last night's Marrowgar kill
. As you can see, disc priests can keep up with the best of healers.
(Our holy pally was having connection problems)
