This is a place to make suggestions about how to make this forum a better experience. Everyone here has done a remarkable job forming a community of sorts. I would like to hear some open form discussion amongst all of us about ways to improve this terrific place.

This is a place for constructive posts, not personal vendettas.
I would institute a voteing system to appoint our own mods.

Didn't we have this conversation already? Heck, I think you even started it.

That was about whether or not to invest in wowhead premium. The two are related, but not the same topic.
Besides, your comment is off topic itself. Do you have any suggestions for improving randomness?
Edit: That one is about how to MODERATE a forum... not ways to make it better.

I don't make suggestions. I implement changes!

Anyway, I will be bringing it up in different ways over and over until you guys do something for the posters here or you ban me.
Edit: Id love to see some changes implemented. Perhaps you can stick around and see what the people want.

Hi, dragon2041. This is Malgayne.
I was going to try and handle this directly via email, but since you insist on spamming as many forums as possible with this, but if you insist on handling it publicly, I'll oblige you.
You may or may not be aware that I have logs of what's going on in the IRC channel, even when I'm not online. Your description of the events leading up to your ban from IRC, which you both emailed to me and posted on the Site Feedback forum, goes as follows:
I asked if someone was in IRC, and corgan freaked out at me, instead of just telling me no. I responded by telling him not to freak out, he continued to freak out and call me a troll. Then banned me when i told him to leave me alone.
In fact, you pinged a particular moderator three times. After the first time, Corgan responded (in all caps) that he was not here, and to stop asking. This apparently is the "freakout" you were referring to. This was immediately followed by you asking Corgan if he had any friends, and how much he had to pay them. You then called him a failure twice, and a tool once. He called you a troll, and then banned you. It was at this point that you took your anti-Corgan crusade to the forums.
I understand Corgan's humor can be a little caustic at times. In every case I'm willing to listen to a user's complaints, evaluate the situation, and admit to an error if one has occurred—I think I've proven that in the past. In this case, I stand by Corgan's decision to ban you. I think it's probably what I would have done in the same situation.
Now all that having been said
, I'm reading this thread, so I'm definitely interested in what you guys come up with. :)

Well... you can see there is a bit of turmoil going on in randomness. As I've stated before time and again, this is a very special place. There is so much potental for growth and freeform discussion. We should foster that! This thread is made to define that 'something'! Let's discuss it!

Ban
skyfire
and corgan.
edit: I would just remove skyfire's power.
I'll come up with some real debate material tomorrow.
My finger is on the button, but probably not the one you want it on.
If you have issues with staff, feedback@wowhead.com is where to take them. Repeated public bashing of the staff will not be tolerated. Constructive criticism in an appropriate forum, however, is welcome. :)

What freedoms do you not have that you feel you should have?

I feel that randomness should be able to self moderate. But this is just MY opinion. Please don't rely solely on me. Ask others. Encourage discussion. I am strong enough to stand up and say "Hey, maybe there is a better way out there". The way you are responding to me is doing nothing to encourage those around me to respond freely.

I think we need more topic that are constructive(such as old debates) and we should also take all the forum games and seperating them into either a sub forum or another forum all together, also maybe rename randomness into a sort of general discussion of non-WoW things
I may come up with more later
EDIT: I must say I disagree with self moderation, I cannot say that the randomness goers could be responsible with this since there are plenty of personal vendettas on randomness that simmer below the surface

I apologize... the humor isn't coming across. :-/
Having the forum self-moderate implies you are not happy with how the forum is currently moderated. Is this true? What don't you like about the moderation?

Thanks for the input kattib! Those are good ideas.

I don't have any problems with the current moderators, other than, they don't understand randomness like the randomness users do. They do their best, and they work very hard to be fair. I admire them more than I ever have lately due to thier level of maturity and professionalism. I am not even saying we should get rid of the moderators we have. All I am saying is that we should do the majority of the moderation ourselves.
Think about how randomness flows. When left alone, it does really amazing and intelligent things. I just would like to see that go in its own direction. Why do I want that? Because I recognize the potential.

Dragon - Would it do harm to walk away for a while and think of a way to handle this that would be more effective?
