Indeed having slower weapons is going to prove very much more valuable in 3.2, unless blizzard decides to normalize the SoV procs...
I have yet to test pret in a raid, going to be playing some on the PTR later tonight hopefully and maybe get a raid going to test it out. Though from what i've read/seen it's going to scale very well in a raid. And with most mana problems out of the way in a raid it's going to benefit the other skills more.

I definately see were you're coming from.
One thing to remember though as pret is that you'll have ~20% more HP than a ret paladin so even if you dont bring any extra utility you're more likely to be standing up at the end of the fight than the ret paladin.

Old thread oO Your post was 14 hours after the last one before that.
Good to hear that you're enjoying it in 3.2. I'm still 45 minutes away from starting 3.2 so i cant give you any personal experiences.

I skimmed through the entire topic and can't find these answers:
For soloing old-world 40-man content (such as MC), which would be more beneficial: A fast sword or a slow sword? Also, I'm assuming the shield should have some +int and mp5 on it for the lack of replenishment?

You wouldn't want to as Protribution. You'd probably be better off in a pure Prot build, or as a hybrid Prot/Ret build in Prot gear, and aim for unhittability. The fast sword/slow sword conundrum really wouldn't make much difference.
Its harder to do this build because there is no Protribution gear, right now I'm using a weird mix of ret PvP gear, and some prot gear. Trying as much as possible to go Str instead of +attack, for the block value benefit and the Libram of Obstruction definitely helps too.
Gear weightings would follow something similar to a standard Prot paladin's threat-build weightings. Stack Strength, above all else. Ret PvP gear is good, since you'll get better scaling from the high Strength, and you'll get even more scaling from the Stamina, which Ret pallies don't get. Technically, Strength adds more value per item point than BV, and you don't 'waste' points on things like avoidance, but in PvP, anything goes, really.

This is coming from a current retribution paladin. Highly curious about this spec because I'm trying to do Geddon and Garr (no luck on Garr, haven't tried Geddon). I'm not sure if it
would
help enough to make a difference, but the AoE would be nice for Garr and his adds.
Looking at how hard Garr hits, I'll probably end up just doing some pure protection. Trying to not have to get the gear, though, as I already have some items for my off-spec (healing in the future).
Which weapon would you recommend from either heroics or BoE on the AH (non-1Kg+)? Not necessarily to get Garr down, but to test the spec a bit.

For old-world content, I would have thought that the ideal gear is a block-set, for mitigation. Very few (if any) of the old bosses hit for 3-4k consistently, and especially in Molten Core, you can mitigate a lot of it using Fire Resistance Aura.
In this instance, pure protection would be better. You want maximum mitigation and avoidance so that you don't need to heal. BoS will ensure you don't run out of mana, and Consecrate should burn down the adds over a few minutes. It'll also be good for the additional stamina you get, and the new Ardent Defender cheat death. As long as 30% health can keep you alive for more than 2 minutes, you're invincible.
To test Protribution, you can use the Titansteel Bonecrusher - that's a 'minimum' starting point.

Anything BoP out of 5-man heroics worth mentioning? I'm not made of gold. :/
