With the option being implemented in 3.2 to turn off experience gains, some friends and I have started a guild with the intention that everyone will get to lvl 60, then turn off exp gains, and proceed to play the game as it was pre-bc.
This means that we will be raiding all the old world content (molten core, onyxia, BWL, etc) as though the expansions never even happened. We will be doing it with lvl 60 gear, dmg output, health/mana, etc.
Playing in this manner, we hope to encourage people on our server (Dunemaul btw) to do the same, and actually properly relive what WoW used to be like.
Just curious, will anyone else be doing this? It's a great way to bring fun back into the game and refreshing, since I'm sure it's been so long since most of you have bothered with old world raids/zones in depth that at this point it would be as if they added all new content to the game, lol.
Well, its a nice thought and all, but it doesn't really work to its full potential. The talent trees along with most spells have been completely reworked, and pretty much most level 60 Outlands gear trumps that raid gear.... so....
Kinda a pointless but fun endeavor. :P

You DO realize that all the changes to the talent trees make it completely impossible to do that, right?
And there is also the fact that in those days, each class HAD to be a specific spec. So unless you plan to make only Warriors tank and not DPS, Paladins Heal and not DPS or tank, not allow Shamans to come ((Ally side)) or Paladins to come ((Horde side)), Priests can only heal, Mages MUST be Frost...you get the idea... You will still not be able to recreate what it was like to raid Vanilla content in the beginning. And BWL would probably kill your raid just as it did almost all raids. Also, you will never be able to run the old 40-man Naxx.
Why waste that time and effort, tick off that many people, when you can level to 80 and solo Ony, 2-man MC, 4-5-man BWL and take maybe 10 to AQ40?
Do YOU know 40 other people willing to put up with the strictest of raiding conditions that have ever existed in the game and destroyed more friendships and guilds than there are people playing WoW at this moment?
...
Burn,
Lol.
He's got a very good point.

Honestly NOT doing something like this would be like someone becoming rich and famous and not visiting their hometown because they think they're too good for it...
Just my opinion

Sounds like a great idea. I personally don't think I could pull it off, but if you can do it successfully, that's really great for you.
