It basically means you're skipping the last two levels.

The difference between lvling originally and now is very different. It seems a lot faster now imo, but that could partially be because I got QH for my newer toons.

sry but only mobs give extra xp :)
I was told that it gave extra experience for quests as well.
When I turned in the quest "The Bloodsail Buccaneers," I was awarded 1264 experience, rather than the 1150 reported here on wowhead - a 10% increase.

currently with both the midsummer boost and shoulder boost you get
20% per mob and 10% per quest so lets calculate
I have to kill 30 mobs for some quest that normaly gives 1000xp then turn in the quest for 10k xp
with nothing thats 40k xp
with the boosts thats 47k xp
Now lets look at it this way over 1 day of play you get a normaly of 1000000xp from just mobs(around 1000 mobs) and 3 times that for quests as you didn't complete 1 quest for every mob killed plus some don't give 10k xp and some give 20k xp.
thats only 4 mill but with the boost we look at 4300000 thats 300k more xp that what you did make in just 1 day play time.
300k is only 30 quests but add up 30 quests every day for a week and thats nearly 2.1M xp extra most people can most likely make more xp in a day so we think maybe 3M to 4M xp extra a week. Thats almost half if not over half of 80 for 1 week of play? thats good at lvl 68 in northrend that 1 week just netted you almost 1 to 2 extra lvls. While talking little numbers your right it is a small amount but bigger numbers adds up.

Not quite the same thing. Other people described it with the math... here's the non-math summary:
Kill 10 mobs, get the same experience for killing 11 mobs.
Small difference, but looking at my level 75 character's statistics, I've killed 10729 mobs that yielded experience. I've had the shoulders since level 1, so with the 10% xp bonus it's like I've killed 1072 mobs for free (there are some huge assumptions here. Don't kill me generalization gods!). Figure that I kill about 1 mob every 30 seconds or so, with zero downtime (go druids!), I've saved myself almost 9 hours of grinding time. And that's only at level 75!
I think the shoulders are definitely worth it.

Let's do some math, I know other people have done it too, but I'm going a little more in depth.
It takes 21,300 experience to get a level up from 19 to 20. The average level 19 mob will award 140 experience, and the average quest around level 19 will award somewhere between 1100 and 1850 experience, so we'll use the average between those for calculating purposes (The average of those is 1475).
so here we go, we'll take this one quest at a time.
First quest requires you to kill 10 mobs. Each mob regularly rewards 140 experience, so we get 1400 experience regularly. With the 10% bonus, we get 1540 experience. Now add the quest experience award. regularly, it's 1475, but with the 10%, we get 1622.5 exp (we'll round it up to 1623).
If we add those numbers together, we get 1540 + 1623 = 3163 experience.
Now let's see how many quests that would take to level from 19-20:
21300 / 3163 = 6.734 (rounded)
Now regularly, if you take the exp from 10 mobs (1400) and add it to the average quest reward (1475) you get 2875 experience in total from the quest. let's see how many of THOSE quests it would take you:
21300 / 2875 = 7.409 (rounded again)
So, as you can see, it makes a small difference per level (about 7/10 of a quest difference), but, if we think about 80 levels, that's:
0.7 x 80 = 56.
You are saving yourself 56 quests (which would be 560 mob kills and running between mob spawns and quest givers, etc.)
Wall of texts ftw. :D (and if you actually read this post, you get a cookie)
