When you say that you need about 30% crit for fire, do you mean 30% crit from gear and talents or just from gear alone?

Glyph of Arcane Blast
Single highest DPS arcane glyph.. (That's 3% per stack)
Glyph of Arcane Missiles
2nd highest DPS arcane glyph. You'll thank me when you see your missile barrage critting for 9k per tick on a 25m Thaddius.
Glyph of Molten Armor
ALL pve mage specs make use of this. Even arcane, which isn't as crit reliant, makes great use of the dps for this.
Just on the Molten Glyph... While it is easily the best glyph for the third spot, I don't really recommend it to a newbie raiding Arcane mage, especially one who's suffering from mana issues. Arcane relies on gear to produce hard-hitting and consistent results and before you get up to the top tier of gear, you'll probably be relying on Mage Armor more than Molten to keep your mana flowing. I too, use the Mana Gem glyph and combined with 2pcT7, it's an absolute godsend.
When the OP's gear starts to get a lot better and he/she's mastered more control of Arcane's mana, THEN it's time to move to Molten and the respective glyph. Even if you don't use the glyph...
you're right.. I actually, found out in another thread that there are some cases where someone's gear can actually cause the glyph of fireball to be higher dps than the glyph of molten armor in the fire/ttw spec.
personally, i never did use the mana gem glyph, even with the 2pc t7 bonus. i think that might have been while I gave up on arcane for a while though, now that i think about it. lol

keep in mind that one's crit chance as arcane is not going to be the same as one's crit chance as a deep fire spec because of world in flames and critical mass and such.
Yes, I am well aware of that. However, even with all the fire talents, your fir crit will still be about 8% higher then your other crits, and with a "base crit" of 10%, you'll still only have around 18 - 19% crit chance with fire build. Still terrible.
Yesterday I ran a 25 men VoA with a
very well geared
Fire mage in my raid group (Yes, as in 2.4k sp and still raid-hit capped). He was pulling constant 4.8 - 5k dps all the time. I asked him what was his crit chance, he told me: "my Fire crit chance is about 52%, unbuffed". I was like "wtf!". The he explained to me that, with all the raid buffs, he would get a pyroblast every 3 fireballs he casted or even less. Imagine his rotation! Living Bomb, Fireball 2x - 3x, Pyroblast... for every single cycle!.

well I guess I just need more and more gear. I always thought arcane was second most gear dependent behind fire, but ahead of frost. I guess not now?
My DPS is still the same.
Fire is actually more gear dependant, due to the insane amount of hit it needs from gear.

Not just hit, crit as well. Remember, unlike Arcane, Fire specs (FB/TTW and FFB) get their procs depending on crit. So, if you want to have a good dps (5k+), you need to be contantly spamming pyroblasts. For that to happen, you need high crit.
Hit is no big deal now with Ulduar gear: you can get a lot of hit from T8.5 gear, along with
Living Flame
and
Frozen Loop
.
