It amazes me how often you see lowbie rogues that forgo poison entirely, and its somewhat depressing to see.

Let me just say to any people thinking of rolling a rogue, or lowbie rogues looking for information, that you should almost always have this poison and its upgrades put on your weapons as you grind/level, it -will- help you greatly.

As of WoTLK, you do NOT need to level "Poison" skill up...you need to just buy them from the vendor and apply (after you do the tower quest). I didn't know this after I picked up my 19 rogue and walked around for like a half an hour asking what was going on.

Just to add to the above comments, I just got my rogue alt to 20 and HAVE NOT done the tower quest yet. I was able to go right up to a poison vendor, buy this and crippling poison and apply them to my weapons. So it looks like you dont even need to do the tower quest anymore.

They made instant poison totally useless at end game. It actually does less damage than wound poison because it applies less than half as often as wound poison. The only reason one would ever use this was if he/she were to spam shiv.

This should be down ranked because it is very untrue for all rogues

Not all rogues out there are assassination you know, a combat rogue may not have the necessary AP because of lacking Imp. Poisons, and he would use Wound, while it is untrue that Instant poison is completely useless, it is also untrue that you say it is untrue for all rogues.

Check your facts.

#showtooltip Instant Poison
/use Instant Poison
/use 16; 17
/click StaticPopup1Button1

left click for mainhand right click for offhand, the last line automatically clicks the dialogue box that asks if you wish to overwrite the existing poison. nice and simple one-click application. just replace the poison name with the one you wish to put there

for this specific macro though, #showtooltip Instant Poison shows the tooltip for the older poison, that i linked above. to override that, just replace #showtooltip Instant Poison with #showtooltip item:6947 so that your macro shows the correct item count if you are using this on your action bars as a visible button (otherwise it shows the older one and a "0" item count - as you are more than likely using the new one which is a re-worked minimum level instant poison)

Disappointingly, Worgen rogues (and I'd assume goblins as well) cannot purchase this in their starting area. I highly recommend mailing some to your Worgen from another character, as this stuff will last you a fair few levels until you manage to leave the starting area and join the real world.

Since this poison's damage now scales with the rogue's level, shouldn't there be a level slider to show the values at different levels, as is the case on heirlooms?

if you want to get the poison (1), go to orgrimmar ( in my case :P ) and speak with the troll guy near the rogue trainers, located in the cleft of shadow, he will give you the quest ( please dont hate me if i do it wrong ) Mission: Possible but not Probable, there you will need to do a bunch of things, then after you get the stuff he wants, you will notice you will have a ten day poison that will be cured on the third part of the q, which the guy will give you an antidote AND your poison(1) PLUS recipe for instant poison I...
