To find Ulathek, all you have to do is walk back down where you came from (back towards the entrance). Eventually you'll see a path that doesn't lead out to the entrance or to Lord Banehallow. You just follow that path and at the end will be Ulathek with about 3 guards. It isn't too hard, so good luck.

sooo easy at lvl 60 with a felguard. they have low hit points and they don't hit hard aswell.

To add a note on ppl NOT using Felguard... Max is him, plus 4 adds... (Lvl 53-56) and it's easy soloable with your VoidWalker... Didn't heal, didn't die, and lost only a little life healing VW once... Siphon them, a kill boss, then take the adds (Guards) one at the time... No panick, not hard... The whole run took 17 min, from outside drinking potion, 'till HeartStoning... So even 1 flask is plenty...

Easy to solo - talk to him and have your voidwalker attack him as soon as he turns hostile. Allow him to use his Suffering to gain aggro on all four guards as well. Once he does, pile up DoTs on Ulathek and pummel him with shadowbolts until he drops. When he dies, quickly loot him, grab the heart and run like hell back to Banehollow while your VW distracts the four guards. By the time he unsummons, you'll have so much of a head start that they'll break pursuit immediately.

level 60 afflic lock with invoker/sorcerer gear solo'd very easily. finding him was the hardest part. backtrack your steps to the entrance...he is a 2 minute walk and will be in the room at the third bridge you cross on the way back.

To be a little more specific, head back towards the entrance. Don't turn off to the right where the slimes are. When you start going uphill, there will be a dead end branch to the left: ignore that too. Next there's a bridge on your left guarded by a legionnaire. That's what you want. Ulathek is in the room at the far end of the bridge. You have to talk to him before you can fight him.

This quest was cake. As a 60 Affliction spec lock, I dropped the Taint of Shadow, and dealt with his guards. As soon as they were dead with, I re-applied the elixir and spoke to Ulathek to begin the encounter. A few dots and a Drain life later I had his heart and my Xorothian Stardust.

East of where the demon guy is, there's a circle room with 2 offshoots. the one at the top, he spawns inside. just wait it out. there are i think 3 gaurds in the room with him that all go agro, so be prepared. I did it at lvl 60, but have to sacrifice the VW and fel domination myslef a new one, so

he is in the same building/underground cave
as the demon boss. he is in one of the side rooms
over a bridge. when you talk to him he says
some trash then goes aggro to you, VW can
start taking some aggro, and not all the mobs in
the instance will aggro you, so i did howl
of terror to break up the group so i could cast
and he drops very fast. sac the vw and run
up the tunnel and after about 30 seconds
the aggro runs back and the mobs are still
green to you, if you used your potion of
jaedanar disguise.

after you talk to the boss guy again next to
the demonboss on the right is the guy you
buy the 150g dust from. dont be dumb like me
and hearth and go to bed, talk to that guy
first buy your 150g dust then hearth ;)

The coordinates are correct. 40, 48 is the correct place to be. However, it's not on the bridge as you would think. It appears many have had the problem that I had, which was they ran out and went to the coords.

While in the Shadow Hold, go back the way you came, after you accept the quest. At one point you'll see a blue Demon, and a bridge on his right (Your left as you leave the Hold), take that bridge, and it will dead end with a small room (just on the other side of the bridge). This is where Ulathek is.

Once you find him, take another shadow potion if yours is less than 5 minutes from expiring. Then make a soulstone, and a healthstone (just to be safe). Talk to ulathek, once he starts attacking, beat him down. Forget the rest of them no matter what your instincts tell you and just beat him down.

As soon as he drops sacrifice your voidwalker, and loot him. Start running, nothing will agro except the ones who are already fighting you - take off running for the Lord, and the other guys will eventually give up and turn around.

Continue to the Lord and do the turn in. Buy your dust and hearth out!

Just finished this quest, so healthstones, no soulstones, no health or mana pots, no problem... Guy is in a small room, there's a larger one, witha room branching off below, a "spiral" ramp, and a bridge to another room, he is in the top room

I had some problems finding the guy, when you're at the Lord go all the way back over the bridges towards the boss with the 2 succys. From there go back 1 more room and you'll notice a bridge going upwards.

Talk to the guy, he and his 3 adds will agro you immediatly after the conversation.

What I did;

1. VW Suffering
2. Howl of Terror
3. SAC VW (Dont have to, but I like to SAC immediatly for no interruption for my spells).
4. Nuke boss (I'm destructo build so conflagrate + shadowburn did most of the job
5. Loot, run with the shield still on ya =P

Didn't use any healthstone or pods in this manner.

Do note that the adds do not go away when their boss is dead, they keep following you untill you either kill them or lose agro.

Potion doesnt run out when fighting this traitor, so other npc's in the area wont agro you when you're running away like a headless chicken from the guy's adds.

Only problem now is.... that some newbie hordes killed the Lord and the vendor guy so waiting for respawn at time of writing lol... 14 minutes of potion left and counting =(

Any level 60 warlock with skill should be able to do this.

All pots / stones are bonus but unnecessary at all.

0/30/21 - 9 minutes from the jaed'nar door to hearthing out of there.

suffering on void, kill the dude, sacrafice, kill one add, fel domination, another void, taunt the other 2 adds, kill them, run back, finish quest, buy stupidly expencive dust, hearth and u have 11 minutes to run about as a purple man :D

See above comment. If you are felguard spec'd, no worries. 40.47 is the bridge, go over it to 41.48 and there he is. Talk to the guy, he'll agro, put felguard on defense and he'll tank all of them. You could DoT them if you want, but don't have to. Felguard will wipe all of them.

Easy stuff ( Lvl 60 )

I killed this guy in my tuxedo suit without a SS on or usin a healthstone... since im demonology spec...

If ur afflict lock ... the VW trick is perfect and u need to prepare i gess ...

But if ur demonology .. all u needa do is kick bak and use afflict spells n shadow bolt on dah main guy ..keep felguards cleave on leave him on agro ...loot the main guys *!@# ... jump aroun and launch spells n drain health ...

Keep targetting the attackers focused on u so u can send felguard onto them then quick switch to an enemy with lower health and drain

So easy didnt even wrinkle the Tux...
no need to sweat this mission

Tha hardest part is turnin the mission in... 150g to buy the dust...

anyone know the respawn rate on this guy cause by the time i got to him a group had already kicked his ass...ive been waiting for like 10 minutes for him to respawn and nothing.

Very easy, everyone made it out to be harder than it was. I'm lvl 60 and solo'ed this. I ran into where Ula is and had my VW out. I talked to him and then he started to attack. I did Howl of Terror as suggested and they all ran around while my VW kept attacking them. I focused my attacks on Ula with my DOTS and Searing Pain, killed and looted him and my Howl was wearing off. My VW kept the aggro of the attackers while I ran for it back to Banehollow. I eventually got my Soul Shard back and the aggro was gone and turned the quest in to Bane. Very easy. Just make sure you keep a Shadowy Potion or two in case you need to go back when you get your 150g for the next part of the quest. That way you can run back in and talk to him again.

omfg how easy. after reading all the post on preparing and saccing vw and pots and howl of terror i was almost doing this and laughing. if ur demo just tell ur felguard to stay near ulathek or whats his name go behind him and talk to him. once everything agroes u he'll cleave and gain agro. nuke ulathek and loot. fell will kill everything else by itself. deathcoiled for fun and used robe of the void coz i'm cewl. so eazy. only used one of my pots ^^ dw guyz its ez mode

This is kind of easy at 60 and is part of your epic mount quest.

1) Ride to Jaedenar in Felwood. Have VW ready. STOP: If you don't have 150 gold for your epic mount, stop now and get it.
2)Drink the Shadowy Potion (6 gold for 3 pots from the npc near the Altar of Storms in Burning Steppes) if you do not plan of doing any killing. Skip the first entrance.
3) Enter the second entrance into Shadow Hold in the very back part of Jaedenar and run all the way through it until you get to the end where you will see a big winged demon named Banehollow. He is where you will actually get THIS quest.
4) Run back across the big bridge and drop down right by the smaller bridge. Run back toward the entrance past Shadow Lord Fel'Dan (and his two Succubus minions) until you come to a large circular room with two small offshoots. Run up the ramp on the right side, then across the bridge to your left into the into the northernmost offshoot. You will see Ulathek the Traitor and his cronies inside this small room.
5) Talk some trash and he will do the same. Then he will agro. Use your voidwalkers taunt-like abilities to get all agro on him. DoT all mobs with standard DoTs. DO NOT FORGET Siphon Life. Use Health Funnel to keep pet alive and Drain Life to do the same for you.

I didn't use a Healthstone and I did not Sac my VW. I had 75% life and 20% mana left after fight. Most of the life I lost was from Life Tap.

6) Go back to Demon Banehollow and trun in then he will give you the quest to buy the Xorothian Stardust which you will need for your epic mount, the Xorothian Dreadsteed!

doing quest is fairly easy..read all other comments..BUT EVERYONE FORGOT TO LET U KNOW THAT BEFORE STARTING THIS QUEST
U WILL NEED TO HAVE 150 GOLD TO BUY THE STARDUST NEEDED TO COMPLETE NEXT LEG OF QUEST

man...everyone who says they had to either sacrafice there void or use a potion or id they had trouble killing the the mob around this guy is just plain weak...(kill the mob around level 57)
i did this quest at level 61 with NO problem what so ever....i didnt use sacrafice or a potion or SS
my void only got down to half health and i barely got a scratch on me...
i have about 5500 health and 6000 mana
it was way to simple....
now the part aaaafter this is a pain in the ass...
you have to buy sum gay stardust for 150g
when i already paid about 120g for all the mats for the other dreadsteed quests...
now im stuck down to 140 and having to save save save !
but yes this quest was much to simple...any level 60+ who had trouble with this are just plain weak locks...
(oh i didnt even fear or anything either)
oh and drinking the potions while in combat doesnt work
i drank one while in combat and the guards still attacked me

Ok, First of all, you not only need to buy at least one pf the "3 pack" of "taint of evil" elixir from Bloodbringer's assistant (the goblin behind him), (also, would recomend buying two of these packs just in case get really lost inside the hold like I did ), but you do indeed need to go in with 150 gold to buy the ingredients once you bring the heart to Lord Banehollow! Read up on the yellow suggestions first!
What I ended up doing, because I got stupidly lost and used my shadow potions up, is once I found the "traitor" (best way to find him, go back the way you came till get to room with demon and two succubi, take bridge up, to room where "traitor" and his guards are), talk to him, kill him immediately without attacking anything else and make sure your VW is up and attacking him as well, then when he is almost dead use Howl of Terror to scatter everyone. Loot the corpse, then either run (if have no more potions left) or use potion and the guards should return friendly. I ran.
After that, as I did not arrive witht the 150 gold, ran to safe spot (hard to find as the guards follow awhile, had to run past the still Aggressive Succubi and had vw attack her while ran past the slimes and got pretty low on health. My potion almost expird, but had just enough time to hearth out (anywhere else is good, but if can plan, choose Winterspring as it has a bank and inn as well as being the closest city with such things). Then, had to get gold (as in borrowed from friend), buy more "taint" potions (so back to where Bloodbringer resides on the other freakin continent?%@!), then will come back and presumably should be able to still deliver the heart as well as buy the regents that cost 150 gold. Grr! What a quest! Had I known it would be this expensive to be a warlock, would have picked more profitable side professions, like skinning and mining, or something. As it s, I enchant, and lately the regents cost WAY too much and nothing but basic items sell at the auction house because Outlands has far more interesting stuff right now! Sigh...

this si to easy, i did it with an IMP!, just corrupted and agony him, fear bombed and he died by the time it ran out. then i ran off. and didnt even die (had low health tho)

This is easy if u are a destruction lock with 209 bonus damage..killed the one dude and his minion but the others kept attacking me..never got below half health..hardest part is finding him..if you are aff or demo healthstone wouldn't be a bad idea

This quest is easy for a lvl 60 demo lock, voidwalker can easily soak up all the damage form the 4 mobs the only problem i had was buying the dust for 150g XD

This quest is ridiculously easy if you do it right.
I read this tip on thottbot but I can no longer find it.

Make sure you have an extra shadowy potion in your action bar. Disable your current shadowy potion and attack. Have your voidie out to take enemy fire and focus all of your spells on Ulathek. He will die in a few seconds and when he does, use another shadowy potion. The other mobs will immediately stop attacking and you can loot his corpse in peace. Fight took all of 15 seconds and I lost all of 800 health...

I did this quests as a level 60 warlock. I concentrated on attacking Ulathek with a few spells (curse of shadows, Immolation and Corruption) and then just keep my Fellguard alive (Drain life & Health funnel). He slaid them all in a few minutes. Piece of cake.

No. What real warlocks do is cancel the potion effect, Enslave Banehollow, and get him to kill Ulathek himself. Obscenely satisfying.

And Lord B. is so powerful that he can slaughter the whole crowd by himself. Just be sure to tag the named so you can lewt him.

Dont go by coordinates above - just bactrack to the rooms mentioned - you can do this with 1 potion. I went to the 40,48 coordinates and wandered around in circles looking for a "room" and burned the first potion that way. On the upside, got some honor ganking a lev 57 blood elf pally 3 times! and his buddies once - but on the last go-around, they split in a hurry and I only caught the pally... sigh, good times :)

You can still do the fight while the pot is up. Just walk up and talk to the traitor.
Oh, and he respawns slow, so if someone killed him you have to wait.

Ulathek is at 40.48 in small room across short bridge. You go left at this bridge when heading for Lord Banehollow.

Can't attack Ulathek or his buddies while Friendly to Jaednar. Right click your "mask" buff to cancel the friendly to Jaednar affect, or wait til the affect wears off.

He has three 52-ish buddies and and a imp. He is a 57.

At base of bridge, before crossing, is a 55 Jaednar Legionnarire (felguard) and a 52 Enforcer.

If you haven't already done so, get the quest for kiling Lord Fel'dan. Can get at Emerald Sanctaury ( I Think ) , southern Felwood. He is at 39.46, on way to Lord Banehollow. He is the one guarded by two female succubi.

6200 XP at level 62.

Get quest: Xorothian Stardust from Lord Banehollow.

Ur'dan stand next to him. time to fork up the 150 gold. Now back to the Burning Steppes.

In order to save some gold, a friend and I just killed everything up to Lord Banehollow,
I drank the potion, went back and killed Ulathek, this was fairly easy, robe of the void + quest greens.
I used my imp and one healthstone. Then ran back and got the dust.

Easy and quck.

While buffed with the Taint of Shadow, you can talk to Ulathek to aggro him and his guards without losing the buff or becoming hostile to the rest of Jaedenar. Fighting those four or five minions at once may look tough, but I pulled it off with Howl of Terror plus dots.

Prove that you serve me and not my rivals. Confront Ulathek in his quarters, in the Shadow Hold to the west. Tell him that I know his secret and watch as fear grips him. Then, bring me the traitor's heart!
