yet again blizzard fails when it comes to balance.. for us pure destro locks this trinket is nothing but a waste, but it´ll take blizz some time to realize the fact that they need to get it changed in such a way that any s can benefit from it. and that goes for all the other class trinkets aswell..
There is a very simple way to improve this trinket, it would look something like this:

<Each time your Corruption or Immolate deals damage, it has a 20% chance to grant you 200 spell damage for 5 sec. Only the first of the two spells that is put up on the target will proc the spell damage bonus>

if it would work like this, both affli and destro locks would benefit from it, though any lock with instant corruption would benefit more from it then a lock with 1.5 sec immolate cast, but this is still a quite fair change.

just on the side. the spell damage buff is called "Infernal Power" and i can tell you one thing, infernals is coated with a unending immolate cloak, so the very name of the buff is wrong if you ask me. as far as i know, no infernal have ever used corruption in the history of wow.

i realy dont want to waste my time to tell how many things thats wrong with that post, so ill keep it short. 1: no, as a pure destro lock you DONT use corruption becaus the cast time on that spell is 2 sec. 2: corruption cannot be removed like CoA / immolate, you´ll have to figure out what that means.

providing the trinket has no blind cooldown, this only adds 40 passive dmg. Personally I'd rather stick to icon of the silver crescent and mags eye.

And an eye of mag is way more useful for a dest lock than a raiding aff lock with 5/5 supression. Some trinkets just suit different builds better.

For example, my imp darkpact mana pool doesn't really care about the 30% healing he's going to be getting in the magically land where I get heals during a raid if I wear 2 piece tier 5. But a SL lock tanking something is suddenly infinately better.

Ok im sorry i have read over most of these post and im going to clear this up for all the warlocks out there. 21 Demo 40 Destruction is not more DPS than a warlock that is destruction with instant Curruptio . I know i know it's for raids i want to do more DPS. First of all if you want to spec for raiding you should and need to get Improved Life Tap and in order to get that you need to get ither Instant Curruption or -5% on resist. I am a 7/10/44 Spec Warlock and out dps every warlock in my guild stop trying to act like a mage learn to play your class with the spells you were given. And please especialy if you play on a PvP server never bash the instant curruption.

The fact is that for a destruction lock when PvPing or soloing this trinket is useless and I can think of 10 other ones that serve better a destro lock under those situtations (Talishman of the Alliance/Horde and Medallion of the Alliance/Horde is a more than classic pair for all specs at PvP or Vengeance of the Illidari and Oculus of the Hidden Eye other classic solo pair) and this is cause 90% of the times the standrd proceedure includes CoE->Immo->1-2 Incinerates or some more searing pains and when immo is 1-2 secs before running out Conflag, corruption is just waist of mana for a destro lock, it is better 2 throw a searing pain that has a good crit chance and will dish more damage than a corruption. This happens cause most fights are around 12 secs, if corruption is cast after curse it will roughly tick 4 times. When it comes down 2 raiding things change drastically, cause except if you do not instant cast corr, you will be using it all the time. I play 7/5/49 and I use corr at 9 out of 10 mobs in a raid, but not only there, at 5-man instances also every mob that exceeds 30k life (thus around 65% of mobs at Arcatraz) I use corr cause it will run through most of its time.The bottom line is that different trinkets serve different situations and I won't believe anyone that will tell me they only use 2 same trinkets all the time!

To maximize dps, every warlock should be casting corruption regardless of spec (unless your +fire damage is ridiculously more than +shadow damage, probably close to 500 more).

Corruption does 900 damage for a 2 second cast. Incinerate, which you would be casting instead of corruption, does at most 642 damage with a 2.5 second cast.

So corruption does more base damage, and takes a shorter time to cast. On top of that, corruption receives a greater benefit from your +dmg gear than incinerate.

While it is true that incinerate can crit, it has to make up 258 base damage, 0.5 second casting time, and the larger +dmg coefficient that corruption receieves. As you must be standing still to cast both, it not be instant is irrelevant.

As such, all warlocks should be using corruption. As to whether this is better than the Eye, I really havn't tried to break it down yet. I will worry about that when we get there, we are still making our way through SSC.

does anybody know what the hidden cooldown is. if there isnt one this trinket is absolutely amazing.

corruption lasts 18 seconds with 6 ticks (im gonna ignore voidheart bonus) so in a minute you get basically 20 ticks. with a proc of 20% it goes off 4 times a minute. with a length of 5 seconds you get about 20 seconds, out of every minute with 220 more damage. thats 1/3 of the time you are in a fight and translates to about 73 damage.

the direct formula i believe is ((4*5)/60)*220

given that the 5 second procs could run over each other without a hidden cooldown its not really as good as above. i'd assume about 1 run over per minute which brings the approximate damage to 66, which is still really good. i'd prolly replace Eye of Magtheridon with this when i reached hit cap, or use it in place of Sextant of Unstable Currents if i weren't destruction.

Simply stated if youre an affliction lock (which means you have instant cast Corruption) this trinket it awesome. I myself am 40/0/21 so i put up my dots and then spam shadow bolt. The +220 SD would be awesome for that.

Average trinket gain:

1 corruption = 67.5 spell dmg
2 corruptions = 115 spell dmg
3 corruptions = 148 spell dmg

Based on 2 years battles simulations (overlaps taken into account). Expect some gap with shorter ones ;-)

There's no hidden cooldown, you can test this trinket with a pre-made character on PTR (try using a 27/34/0 with SL succubus, 2 T5 + 2 T6, you will love farming with no downtime, just using your 3 instant dots on every zaxxis)

spell haste rating is quite powerfull and dps ccreasing for a destro lock, allso works good in PvP cause time and timing is "everyting" in pvp.

The trinket will proc on average once every 15 seconds and last five seconds. That's an average spell damage increase of 73.

Icon of the Silver Crescent gives you a total average of 69.

Statistically this trinket is a slight upgrade to the Icon for single target dps.

This trinket is terrible for all specs.
I am the malediction bitch in my BT guild, having the opportunity to use this, I certainly do not use it.
After doing some research, it works out to be less dps than the Icon of the Silver Crescent (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=29370) for all specs, even as affliction -with- improved and empowered corruption.

It should be changed to be the exact same as the Mage exalted trinket (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=32488) so that it 21/40 locks would use it, it would be alot better than it currently is.

Quagmirran's eye https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=27683 , while theoretically this ashtongue trinket works out to be better than quag's for affliction, I prefer it for the constant spell damage, unlike the proc, plus the haste it gives which is awesome for shadowbolt, immolate and ua.

I am UA spec and tested out this trinket doing a dungeon. It proced about every 40 seconds (on average, it did double proc once), so the average value at proccing every 5/40 seconds, or 28 damage.

It needs to be double the length (so 10 seconds) or increased chance to proc to consider using it.

As a destro warlock, I'm fairly disappointed by this trinket as I'm sure many of you are. No matter what simulation or theorycrafting one goes through, one will always come to a conclusion that 0/21/40 is a more than viable spec for end game raiding simply in terms of dps. You'd think that Blizzard has realized it by this point. A 2 second cast corruption just won't do in any of my spell rotations (by rotation i mean spamming 1 and 2 on my keyboard, /yawn). If only they could add immolate to the proc, I'd be one happy warlock. If you have the means, get Hex Shrunken Head (oh how I hated the drop rate... or just my luck) and Skull of Guldan and bypass this altogether. Heck, even Mag's Eye, Icon, and Crusader are way better for me.

With Curse of Shadows and Curse of Elements merging into one spell next patch, having one warlock in the raid spec affliction (Malediction) is not a bad idea for the 3% more damage for mages and all shadow users. That one warlock could potentially find use for this trinket now.

But I know, sigh. At least its nice for farming i guess

I wonder if this copys over into Seed of Corruption. Man that's an awesome trinket. Too bad it isn't just Shadow damage, it had to be Corruption.
