These books are not unique so you could have two if you wanted. But they do share the same 1 minute cooldown.

With a 15 second duration, the most mana you can hope to get from this is 220. Realistically about half of that (unless you spam heal, in which case you're likely wasting more mana than you save). The cooldown is just one minute, but overall this is just a marginal upgrade over the Blood Furnace trinket, and depending on situation this might actually be worse.

As an above poster calculated, you can get 220 mana per minute saved, under optimal conditions. So another way to think of this trinket, for comparison purposes, is 70 healing, 18 mp5. That depends on either having instant cast heals, or 1.5s heals and very little lag.

It actually looks a lot more attractive when you view it that way (for example, after a 2nd look it's now better than rejuvenating gem), but you do have to remember that's under optimal conditions, and may be slightly harder to use in practice.

Definitely use the above poster's macro too. I have this for all of mine.

any situation in which you'd get 200+ mana out of this trinket (spamming flash heal), would be better suited to a trinket that boosts your healing (eg ZHC). given the fact this trinket triggers a 15 second cooldown on other trinkets, i found myself rarely using it at all. the equip effect is definitely what makes this good.

If you compare this to the Rejuvinating Gem, you only have to get 5 casts off in the 15second period to derive benefit from this trinket.

In my testing, I can easilly get 6 flash heals off in this time, and any renew's or prayers of mending quickly put me over the top.

On a side note, can anybody recommend a good mod to help track stats from trinkets like this ? I've been using 'RegenFU' which is good for tracking raw MP5 stats but with this trinket equipped, I suspect RegenFU is actually going to report lower regen values in combat. (compared to having the Rejuv Gem equipped)

The trinket's use is best for pallies spamming flash of light. Spamming flash of lights IS actually a good way to conserve mana for paladins. Flash of Light takes 180 mana and 1.5 secs to cast at its highest level. So this trinket could save 12% of the mana for each of these spells. A priest's flash heal takes 470 mana so the trinket only saves 4.6% of the mana used.

To illustrate the mana conservation difference between Flash Heal (priest) and Flash of Light (pally). Let's assume +500 healing gear and the highest rank of each, ignoring any talents:
Flash of Light: 3.83 pts healed/mana point (4.37 with this trinket's use)
=((448+502)/2)+(500*0.43) / 180
Flash Heal: 2.99 pts healed/mana point (3.13 with this trinket's use)
(((1101+1279)/2)+(500*0.43) / 470

43% is the healing coefficient for a 1.5 sec cast spell. This effect actually gets even worse for priests as the paladin's +healing goes up. This is intentional, paladins were made to be the best spot healers in the game imo. Priests have a better selection of healing spells (aoe, HOTs,etc..).

And for those that say 'learn2downcast n00b', Blizzard made changes to discourage downcasting in 2.0 that reduce your +healing.

I love this trinket as a paladin healer, but with a 1 minute cooldown, it gets a bit tedious having to click it every minute. My solution? I made a macro that bound this to Holy Light. Since in most fights a (good) paladin healer spams FOL with the occasional HL, it makes sense for me.

As a resto shaman, I use this on my rank 1 Healing Waves, which are 1 second casts. I bind it to a macro, and watch my rank 1 Healing Waves go from 24 mana to 2 mana. Now why would you wanna bind this to your rank 1 Healing Wave? Well, its a 1 second cast, and its great for stacking 3 Healing Ways (all resto shamans should have this talent). I also use it when my heal target is at full HP, and use it as a way to conserve my mana as well as keep my target at full in a heal over time fashion (with 3 Healing Way buffs on my target, my rank 1 Healing Waves heal about 275 and crit for 400). So if you're a resto shaman, consider getting this book, I'm sure if someone used theorycraft on 1 second cast and left off some room for latency and lag issues, it'll equal some impressive mp5.

I am a resto druid and I currently wear a Lower City Prayerbook and a Pendant of the Violet Eye (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=28727#M0z).

Using both this trinkets can really save a lot of my mana. If you time to use them always, it's a very good way to conservate mana, specially on tricky moments, when you have to heal multiple targets casting HoTs on them, which are instant cast, along with the Pendant of the Violet Eye, I tend to get a LOT of mana back. And in the idle time until the debuff expires, I tend to spam casting rank 1 rejuv on myself. It costs TWO mana points (down from 20 in ToL form; this happens because it costs 25 regularly, but you have the trinket affecting first, putting it down to 3 points, then the ToL effect, downing in 25%, to 2 mp). So getting +21mp5 for 2 mana points = gg ftw!

Like every other raiding pally ever, I'm a big fan of this trinket. For someone who'd like a more multi-functional macro than the ones listed above, here's the one I use:

/use Lower City Prayerbook
/stopcasting
/cast Flash of Light; Flash of Light; Flash of Light;

Breaking it down:

/use Lower City Prayerbook
** this line will trigger the trinket every time the cooldown is up

/stopcasting
** this line works in conjunction with a castbar that shows latency (eg Quartz) so you can optimise your casting time if you have a laggy connection

/cast Flash of Light; Flash of Light; Flash of Light;
** this is the actual casting part of the macro. The first part (button:2,target=player) casts the macro on you if you right-click it. The second part (target=target,help) heals your target if you have a friendly target selected. The third part (target=targettarget,help) casts it on your target's target IF your current target is hostile - so, it's perfect for tank healing on fights where the tank switches around a bit. And the fourth part (target=none) gives you the glowy blue-outlined selection cursor for targeting the spell, if you don't have any target at all.

This is pretty much my perfect healing macro (I click to target and keypress to cast), Hope others find it useful.

With my current healing gear, this can be very useful when you're almost out of mana, and are pulling trash or anything that doesn't hit too hard. I get some nice use out of this trinket in the following situations:

• I have the Libram of Souls Redeemed equipped.
• The tank has Blessing of Light

Popping this trinket makes my Flash of Light (Rank 1) hit for ~650, and crit for ~1100. Considering it's 13 mana per cast when this trinket is up, you should gain mana from your normal mp5 alone, or at least with Blessing of Wisdom (Imp. by talents?) cast on yourself.

Not the most useful trinket ever, but nice now and then, and a gem when you're short a mage in a 5-man and you're cheap and trying to conserve your water. :P

This one is good for casters too after the patch. Look at the 24+dmg done! I will get two of them when i get revered. It's not so many trinket's that give +dmg until you do Heroics and Raids.

This trinket really excels on fights where you need to CoH for around 10 seconds non-stop.

I always equip it for when we do Hex Lord Malacrass because then the Use Effect is put to maximum effect and it becomes 18 mp5.

If you have 2 of these (they're not unique), using one will activate the full cooldown on the other. Even just having one equipped and equipping the other (like switching from Riding Crop) will start a 30 second cooldown on both.

Great trinket, the mana regen is really useful in the long run. Great to start kara as a healer, although getting to revered might represent an issue.

22 less mana is okay but the best aspect of this trinket is it's not unique. You can equip two of these for a constant +140 healing. I'm not a huge "Use: Increases Healing by XXX" fan, but I love constant +healing, which this trinket can give me twice over.

Don't forget Heavenly Inspiration.

Use: Increases healing by up to 238 for 15 seconds

Equip: Restores 10 mana/5 seconds

Cooldown: 1.5 min.

That is the one that I like too.

Combined with Scarab of the Infinite Cycle https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=28190/scarab-of-the-infinite-cycle this trinket becomes somewhat more useful. With spell haste rating 320 you have about 2/3 of your original casting time, this are the exact numbers:

3 sec = 2.3
1.5 sec = 1.15
1 sec = 0.767

There are a lot of people writing a lot of nonsense about numbers here, please look at it more sensibly.

Firstly this is a trinket designed to keep in cooldown.

Secondly, any healer who cant pull off 6 spells in 15seconds sucks(and any good healer in a raid will be constantly casting, so dont give me the 'might not cast all that much in the 15seconds').

So, 6 heals. 6 * 22 = 132, can make it 5heals if you want and only 110, so lets meet in the middle and say 120mana.

So now consider it in terms of mana/5, this is a 10mana/5 trinket on top of 70+heal, it is an awesome pve trinket.

Just keep it in cooldown, and hopefully if you are a competent player you will keep it in cooldown.

yeah im curious to that to ....im 67 priest on Barthilas server (hahaurdead) im 1000/12000 and just starting to farm sethekk halls for my dungeon 3 legs and mainly for the rep ..im hoping u can buy 2 of these since thats a wopping 140 to healing bonus (im holy/disc) and it doesnt say unique .... so im guessing it must work!

Ok this is one of the best trinkets for pallys FoL spamm. Its 220 mana a min... with 70 healing. Its better then any trinket till BT. The use is 18 mp5 with 70 healing... and with the Fel Reaver's Piston u will kick ass!

This was best thign i ever got got two ofc and if you use em on a palay (full holy) use it then use Divine Immulation they add up :D you save so much mana wheni spam Flash of Light i usually end up getting so much mana bk form crits i use about 30% of the mana i would have without the combo

Just pointing out something a lot of people critical of the use ability of this trinket. Whenever you compare the usefulness of it to another be sure to factor in you can use this twice as often as most trinkets (1m cd compared to an average 2m cd).

The function like " 120mana/5" is not really correct, even this trinket is still a good one , bt it has 1 min cool down, so in the first 15 sec, u may have 120mana/5 which is almost 24mp5 and that is crazy. however, consider the cool down of this , it really counts as 120 mana / 60s which is 2/s and mp5 is 10 . bt this is still really really good , even comparing with some epic ones.

Say you cast 3 heals in 15 seconds, which is not that unlikely in a raid situation since you'll be canceling some. Thats 66 mana in 1 minute, which turns out to be around 5mp5. A 70 healing, 5mp5 trinket is pretty good imo.

As i see it, this trinket will do nicely for my druid main when i specc resto. Since i havent been fortunate enough to get any other trinkets to drop for me im buying two. +140 increase of my +healing isnt shabby at all. Also the price makes it really a "bang for the buck" item

For a resto druid this trinket is awesome. I use the macro postet above with lifebloom to keep it on cd.
Whilst using instant casts 99% of the time this trinket is worth 18mp5 (or even 20 if you manage to get out 11 casts). 18 mp5 with 70 +heal. That is of course only if you have to spam your heals. In situations where you can save mana or just have to update the hots on one tank it won't save you much. But in those cases you don't really have much mana problems :)

For resto I think its even better than Tome of Diabolic Remedy (Zul Aman Malacrass) as I don't like +heal use effects that much, because if you keep them on cd they might be off in the situations where you need them. Using them "by hand" makes only sense when you know (by boss phases or something)that you have to heal like hell now (i also combine it whith instant healing touches)

For a resto druid in TBC, most likely your role in raids is to roll lifeblooms. With a 15 second buff, assuming you are just spamming lifeblooms, you save 220 mana (10 lifebloom * 22), with a gcd of 1.5 secs. This translates to = 18.33 mp5. This is an upgrade to vanilla's Rejuvenating Gem, which I am sad to replace.
