Haha, it's even got the Vendorstrike model. Too bad it isn't very good for my hunter with the str and to hit on it.

There are much better just as obtainable weapons than this for warriors.
There is also no crit on this weapon- and for MS warriors (which i think this weapon is shooting for, it fails)

It's got high damage but no crit and a low top end. I guess if you're already getting exalted for some other reason you might pick it up, but it's not really too great. I've found more than enough +hit for my 2h spec.

It's also too fast for a ret pally, I'm afraid. Seal of Command procs per minute, and when it procs, you want a slow weapon to get the most out of it. I haven't toyed with Crusader strike, as I've not gone into that far into the Ret tree, being a mainly holy paladin, but I'd assume Crusader Strike would be much like Mortal Strike.

I have a MS-Spec warrior, currently gripping a Sonic Spear (love it...for now anyway) however I'm surprised by this weapons stats. Yes-the numbers on this weapon seem a bit odd as they do not denote specific usage for any particular class exclusively. However, I would imagine that it would be a decent wep for a melee class during a raid or farming, most mobs-elite or not-seem (to me) have a particularly high resistance/resilience to my build's DPS, even more than another player. IE, my mortal strikes currently are hitting frequently for 2K+ in a PvP but not soo much during farming. The speed of this wep would be somewhat useful for cleaning up mobs and the +52 stam is good for survival but I have yet to test it out...perhaps they spec'd this weapon to match it's name?

I have this weapon as a Retribution Paladin and it is very nice. The +STR and +STA can be boosted with BoK, 20% for the +STR with Divine Strength talent, and the +hit is tricky to get hold of. It does lack crit on it though and the weapon speed results in lower Seal of Command hits, so if you are getting a crafted epic weapon soon, I'd hold out. I upgraded to it though as the old weapon had equal damage but a much slower speed.

Tyyrlym, I'm honestly not sure where you're going with the range between top and bottom. I don't see what it has to do with your speed argument affecting instants.

Speed does not matter on instant attacks. Implying that it does is similar to saying Ferraris are fast because of the logo on the hood.

The speed just happens to be slow on most of those weapons with higher ranges due to itemization. Damage range and attack power is all that counts on instants.

Well Tyyrlym, you need to give up your starting to look foolish. This weapon rocks considering how easily it is obtained. As others have stated MS uses 3.3 speed, so even if your weapon is 4.0 the MS damage is adjusted as if the weapon is a 3.3. And +hit is a better stat then +crit. You get your +hit to were you need it then you work on the +crit.

When you never miss and crit 34.3% of the time unbuffed your a real warrior.

Allow me to act as a witness to the brain-ripping potential of this pointy stick. I was in AB with a warrior who had this and he was murdering the clothies. He was stacking up some massive crits. Maybe it's not the absolute best weapon for a warrior in all situations, but I play for fun, and this thing looked like an absolute blast in PvP.

Mathletes can take their theorycraft elsewhere, this weapon is for fun.

Do you know how DPS works? It's the average damage of the range, multiplied by weapon speed ((High + Low)/2)*Speed = DPS. If you're not going to vary weapon speed or the DPS in order for the range to get higher the low end damage has to drop as well to maintain the DPS where it is.

You're saying that I am assuming that slower weapons naturally have a higher damage range, well then prove me wrong. Find several weapons of a similar ilevel to this one with huge damage ranges but high speeds. You can't do it, because Blizz doesn't design weapons that way. As the weapons slow down their damage range creeps up. My point is simple, speed and damage range are practically the same thing.

My proof:
Item Level 115 blue axes:

They are both 93.2 DPS weapons, however the Crowwing is 3.40 speed and the GM is 3.60 speed. Now look at the damage ranges, the slower axe's range is higher.

114.6 vs. 114.7 DPS weapons, 3.70 and 3.60 respectively. Look at the damage ranges, the 3.70 speed Mooncleaver 's damage range, both top end and low end, are higher than the Glad Decap.

Once again, identical DPS but different speeds, 3.20 to 3.30 to 3.60, and once again the damage ranges climb in exactly the same way, every time the axe gets slower the damage range, both high and low end increases.

Same pattern, the slower weapon's damage range is higher on both the low and top ends.

I reiterate, speed and damage range goes hand in hand. If you can find weapons that matter that consistently break this trend please show me.

Also: ((AP/14)*Weapon Speed)+Damage = X

Trident of the Outcast Tribe is a good option for blood elven paladins working towards an effective retribution set for entry into Karazhan. Sure, that isn't a great amount of people, but the gear requirements for effective Retribution play is steep. This is the only epic weapon available that isn't an expensive BoE and doesn't require Blacksmithing or the high cost of an arena sword/mace.

Everything else can be acquired through PVP and some PvE.

The reason I said "blood elf" is because Seal of Blood does not depend on high top-end damage like Seal of Command.

As of right now, with Crusader Strike on a 10 second cooldown, it isn't exactly a huge portion of your DPS. White hits and seal procs/judgements still outweight it for raw DPS.

While picking an EXTREMELY (under 2.9 or so) speed 2h would start making the impact to Crusader Strike really noticeable, the difference with this weapon isn't that much- no more than 5 DPS or so.

So yes, if you can get a slower weapon of this quality, do it. But otherwise this thing is damn spiffy.

On the other hand, the general rumor going around (backed up by Blizzcon screenshots, where the change was in fact in effect) is that Crusader Strike is being revereted back to a 6-second cooldown. If this in fact happens, then weapons speed will once again be king even for Horde ret paladins.

More Ret Paladins need to learn this and love it: Slow weapon speed is crucial to decent Ret dps. Part of me dies inside when I see Ret pallies running around with any 2-hander they can find in their hands just because it's blue (a notorious example, Terokk's Quill, god help us).

To illustrate the importance of slow weapon speed, let's compare this polearm with a common-as-dirt BoE mace intended for pre-raid Ret paladins, The Oathkeeper. Let us assume for the sake of making a point, that we have 2 identically geared pre-Kara ret paladins. Both have 1400 attack power, 0 spell dmg, Sanctity Aura, 0% crit and are at the hit rating cap, and are attacking a target with 25% damage reduction from armor from the rear for 1 minute. Paladin A is using the Trident of the Outcast Tribe and Paladin B is using The Oathkeeper.

Paladin A: 1400 attack power = +100 dps. Attack speed is 3.20 and thus each swing causes an average of 205.6 * 3.2 ~ 658.
In 1 minute Paladin A will:
*Auto-attack 60/3.2 = 18.75 times causing a total of 18.75 * 658 ~ 12338 damage. After armor this is 12338 * .75 ~ 9254
*Have 7 Seal of Command procs, each of which causes 70% of normalized weapon damage, e.g., 7*(.7*658) ~ 3224. After Sanctity Aura this is 3224 * 1.1 ~ 3546
*Use Crusader Strike 10 times, each of which causes 110% of normalized weapon damage: 10*(1.1*658) = 7238. Plus Sanctity Aura ~ 7961. After armor 7961 * .75 ~ 5971
Total damage in 1 min = 9254 + 3546 + 5971 = 18,771

Paladin B: Attack speed of 3.60 results in 193.3 * 3.6 ~ 696 damage per swing.
In 1 minute Paladin B will:
*Auto-attack 60/3.6 = 16.67 times for a total of 16.67 * 696 ~ 11600, which after armor is 11600 * .75 ~ 8700
*Have 7 SoC procs. Dmg = 7*(.7*696) ~ 3410, plus Sanctity Aura 3410 *1.1 ~ 3751
*Use CS 10 times, e.g., 10*(1.1*696) = 7656, plus Sanctity Aura 7656 * 1.1 ~ 8422, minus armor 8422 * .75 ~ 6316
Total damage in 1 min = 8700 + 3751 + 6316 = 18,767

Just to make sure you don't miss it...
Total damage from Trident of the Outcast Tribe (105.6 dps, speed 3.2) = 18,771
Total damage from The Oathkeeper (93.3 dps, speed 3.6) = 18,767
Difference in damage output per minute between a costly epic with an exalted rep requirement and a BoE blue: 4

Moral of the story: If you're ret, pay attention to weapon speed. It'll help your dps and hopefully, someday get rid of the "lolret" stereotype. That is all.

well, it could be nice if combined with slam and M/S on an irregular basis with sweeping strikes. but I agree, a little slower with a higher max would be nicer.

That is really pushing it, not many warrior wants to use a weapon that quick. But if you can't make a craftable weapon at 70 because you aren't a blacksmith this should hold you over nicely. ;p

It is a little fast I will admit, but stats-wise, DPS-wise, max dmg-wise, I'd say this is definitely the best MS warrior weapon you get outside of the raid epics/BS recipes/gladiator gear. It beats the 2Hs from Mech, SL, and Sethekk, no contest. If you're an MS warrior like me who isn't a BS, isn't ready for Kara, and has run SL 40 times trying to get my freaking tanking shoulders then I'd say it's totally worth the effort to get to exalted.

This weapon is made for pallys and warriors ONLY... for every other class there are weapons that are WAY better that are easier to get

if ur like me and acctaully try to susatian a social life without raiding, this is prolly the best thing u got to work with, its fairly easy to get, its got very nice war stats, the speed is a bit fast, but if ur not in a raid every night and and want to have one of those shiney 100 dps+ weapons, get it....the end

im a warrior and i may only have 1520 ap
but when that "pitch fork " crits i hit any wher from 1700-3200 not bad untill i get gladiator weapon, if u dont have a warrior then dont say &*!@ cuz the *!@#in thing wrecks pvp

I got this and its pretty sweet helps for MS... to get this weapon i started grinding for Bold way back when I was prot. Needless to say dropped at 12000/21000 so... I started grinding for the Shards 8 per run nice for the ring and after grinding out the rest of the Rep bought it and still saw 1200g in my bag...In conclusion 250g isnt bad for a 70 epic when as stated earlier 12g for normal quests and 24g for grp quests and most come with venodrable rewards..However as an Enchanter I DE most the things I get for much more vaulable Shards.

I got this after doing shadow labs so many times to get exalted for this polearm, well... it doesnt worth the money, the Sonic spear is better, just enchant agility to it instead of buying this stupid ugly weapone!

This thing is a monster with MS/Flurry. Hands down.

The fact that the speed touches close to 2.5-2.6 with flurry even gives more the reason to pick this thing up.

Enchant this with AGI for your crit needs and your good to go.

Totally a kick ass wep.

I use it for farming on my Holy Loladin, in my opinion its a nice balanced weapon due to the raw stats(stamina helps guys!) and its gona do me til all our Warriors/Prot Pallies/Enh Shammys get Wh0rehowl, which is gona take a while /sigh
