absolutely amazing for warriors, mine has it and it works wonders. I crit 600-1000 with MS. I reccomend it for any warriors/shaman/paladin wanting to PvP, otherwise it will be replaced with Ice Barbed SPear at level 51. For PvPing however, it knows no equal! The proc doesnt happen all that often, probably a 5% proc rate.

This weapon not only looks great, but the proc on it totally pwns people, too. This weapon will almost definitely last you until level 60, unless you somehow find something better, but I know quite a few 60s who still use this weapon.

Actually, for an arms warrior you will find better weapons before you hit 60.
Yes, Kang will stick it through for a few levels, but The NIcker ( https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=13285 ) will be better for an MS spec. The slow speed, the high top-damage and the proc makes it a very viable weapon. And you get it already at lvl 53.

Ah, the Kang. This is pretty much the end-all be-all weapon of the 40-49 bracket for MS warriors, 2H Stormstrike shamans and Ret paladins. Great damage, incredible top-end, a rogue-killer proc and you basically have an item that will be used by twinks until the end of this game.

Pick one up if you plan on doing serious PVP in the 40-49 BG bracket, and toss a Crusader on it if you're hardcore. =P

If an Enhancement Shaman want to buy this axe think this before:

this axe have no stats and the Chance on hit is not too great (56 dmg every 3 sec for 30 sec IF it proc, with about 5% proc rate on a 3.6 speed weapon)

with the 2.3 patch some item are buffed like this axe:

Will of the mountain giant has a faster speed yes but you arn't looking for speed when it comes to damage. Now for kang it has a slow speed but a high dmg range and the proc. makes it do even more. MS wars should have slow high dmg dealing weapons in my opinion

Kang the Decapitator literally has a cult following on Al'Akir for absolutely no reason - one person will link it and it will be followed by a barrage of 'Chuck Norris uses Kang' and other stuff, trade channel is perpetually flooded by it.

Kang is NOT the best 2-handed weapon for warriors, paladins, hunters and shamans in the 40-49 bracket. This axe is inferior to another weapon that is slightly slower but that offers a higher damage range, namely Soulkeeper (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=1607)

Soulkeeper offers a higher damage range than Kang, and for those who would point to Kang's bleed damage ability I have this to say: You'd be considered lucky to see this proc three times in a long battleground, so seeing consistent mortal strikes with higher damage across the board is far superior in the end.

What's more, this is an obvious choice for Shamans and Paladins because it provides valuable stats which make the choice an absolute no-brainer.

So the next time you see some chump wielding Kang in a battleground, just remember to laugh at them and their wasted 150+ gold as you roll them like a blunt, fill em with slugs and burn em slowly. Oh, and make sure you mention Chuck Norris as you wave them off to the graveyard.

Usually, by the time the proc has dealt its full damage the target has been dead for a while, thanks to the enormous MS hits. If you want a raw power axe, you might also look for Executioner's Cleaver. Much cheaper as well.

When twinking out a warrior for the 49 bracket I thought about the difference between the Kang and Executioner's Cleaver ( https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=13018 ), and they are VERY close. The cleaver has 23 str on it (46 AP), which actually brings the damage range of the weapons almost in line. Taking the extra AP into consideration, the cleaver has an equivalent top end of 202, and 45 DPS. Slightly lower than the Kang, but you also gain 1.3% hit, a stat which is tough to get on items in the 40-49 bracket. The Kang does have a proc, but as anyone who's used it will tell you, the proc rate is incredibly low.

If money isn't an issue (probably the case if you're making a twink) then the Kang does hit slightly harder. But if you're looking for a good weapon to use while levelling, definitely grab the cleaver since it will likely be half the price.

In the argument between Executioner's Cleaver and Kang the Decapitator:

(DPS + (Attack power / 14)) X Weapon speed = Weapon Damage

Kang is:

(47.4 + (500 / 14) ) X 3.6 = 299.2

Executioner's is:

( 41.8 + (546 / 14 ) ) X 3.8 = 307.04

I got Executioner's with +9 Dmg (cause I'm not gonna waste tons of gold on mongoose) and the crits are very nice on my Ret Pally using Seal of Command.

I highly recommend this weapon for level 49 Ret Pally twinks.

Assuming you're Attack Power is at least 500... hopefully it's a lot higher. I'd say about 900+ for 49 Ret Pally with Blessing of Might

Since when could a Paladin use a staff? Also, what Hunter in their right mind would use a weapon with zero agility, hit, crit, or AP? Not to mention neither of those classes have a spammable instant attack at 49.

Warriors will use Kang with axe spec, a Paladin can't even equip Soulkeeper, a Hunter would choose something with useful stats. I could see a stormstrike shaman use Soulkeeper for the slightly higher top end, unless it was an Orc, in which case the Axe Spec racial favors Kang as well.

I recommend using this for SS shamans that are pvping at lvl 48-49, Use it with windfury and it gets insane dmg.

I had https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=810#comments and although it had a good proc rate and dps. Kang would hit for much more with windfury

A lot of people are wondering why this Axe sells for a lot when its not "impressive". The thing is for a warrior or paladin this is a dream weapon. When you talk about a paladin and warrior, they have to ignore DPS of a weapon and look at the actual damage.

Yes it may seem unimpressive that the weapon has no stats, but as a critadin, I can tell you that I was doing 1600 damage because of my critical strike and seal of command. The average swing is 300 damage. For all other classes this weapon is a waste, because you can never use it to its potential.

with a warrior this weapon becomes the ultimate dot booster this is because all bleeds and rends stack on this chance on hit.

With the weapons dot alone u wil see around 54 damage every 3second (not meant to be exact but a rather educated estimation).

that with you deep wounds dealing its 60 percent of weapon damage and you rend (asuming you in arms spec) u will do total dot damage of 175 (from rend) + 560 (from weapon proc) + 120 (deep wounds) = 855 at lvl 44.

this combined with the 47 dps and your attack powers averege dps (mine is like 27) . over a 30 second time frame your looking at over 5.5k damage assumine u crit more then once every 30 seconds and always have a rend applied to target.

I would recommend a crusader enchant or a stat bonus enchant on this weapon as firey and weapon damage enchants are rather dull on slower weapons
(the math in this post is estimations rounded off due to experience playing as a warrior. It was no calculated down to the last 0.1 dps so if u have any objections work it out for yourself)

First off you all must understand that this weapon is not worth buying unless you plan on making a 49 twink or doing BGs because at 51 you can get IB Spear for free, which is better. DO NOT BUY THIS WEAPON FOR PVE! It is 200g+ because of its PvP capabilities.

PALLY - A 49 twink pally with this will PWN. Pallies need the BIGGEST SLOWEST weapons they can find for increased seal of command proc rate and higher seal of command dmg. AND with a fiery enchant (which can trigger SoC) pallies can get INSANE burst dmg, sometimes higher than warriors. THIS IS A GOOD PALLY WEAPON, but not for PvE. Just note - If you're getting this with a pally, GET FIERY ENCHANT, not crusader.

WARRIOR - Similarly to pally, this is the ultimate weapon for 49 warrior twinks, because of its high dmg. Forget the chance hit altogether, its all about MS, Overpower and Axe Spec. MS and overpower are based on WEAPON DMG therefore you will get your biggest hits with this weapon.

Once again, DO NOT buy this for PvE OR for the chance hit, as it doesnt proc much. And if you plan on leveling past 49 without doing more than a week of PvP, i STRONGLY SUGGEST you do not buy this weapon at all. Ice barbed spear is MUCH MUCH better.

Saw Kang on a 47 Hunter 3 weeks ago (with fiery enchant no less, made it 10x worse), broke my heart.

When i questioned him/her about it, they couldnt understand why i was upset.

3 Weeks later i saw the same hunter now Lv 60. Still had this on.

I am completely and utterly disgusted. This is one of the most horrible wastes of a world drop i have ever seen.

Hunters- Please, you need to understand the nature of your class; Stats increase your damage output, not melee procs, not melee weapon dps, stats. +AGL +AP +CRIT RATING +STA (+INT sometimes), THESE ARE YOUR STATS DO NOT GO OUTSIDE THEM.

Do not get items with "chance on hit" procs and no stats. IF YOU SEE ONE OF THESE ITEMS RUN FAR FAR AWAY. If you should happen to see one of these items, tell the nearest Ret Pally, Warrior, Enh Shaman, or Rogue for they use melee DPS and procs as a source of damage.

You do not, you melee <10% of the time, they melee nearly 100% of the time

You= 2% chance to proc on 5% of all damage done= 1 proc every 5 hours

Them= 2% chance to proc on 99% of all damage done= 30 procs per hour

Save this travesty from ever happening again, follow these rules.

Last note. I am a 70 hunter, do not try to say hunters can melee. The melee damage they can putout (while semi-significant for a quick raptor strike;wing clip;run) is a complete disgrace when compared to the REAL melee classes, and can be outdone significantly by your ranged weapon any day.

I had saved and saved and farmed etc and bought mine off someone who was selling one in trade chat and paid 175 gold at lvl 44, best investment I have made to date, allowed me to take mobs 5+ over my current lvl! Still using it at lvl 56 with a fiery enchant and will use it until I hit 58 and have my AR made. Awesome axe! liked it better than the Lord alexanders axe as the stats are nice but the damage done by Kang is way better than the LA axe! It procs often much to the regret of clothwearers everywear! The +9 dmg enchant would probably be best for maximum damge. BTW I am an arms warrior with some protection! :)

I originally posted this way down the thread, but I think it is worth saying at the top. This weapon is great for a hunter! Let's consider why:

Wrongheaded argument 1: hunters should only care about stats (particularly agility). Ha ha! If you are fighting mobs, a little agility makes no difference because mobs are stupid and you just stand back and kill them. If you are fighting PvP and players are so stupid that let you stand back and shoot them, they will also die. But most players understand that they should close in and engage you, either casting in your dead zone or doing hand-to-hand combat. All that agility is worth ZERO at that point, which is where you will find yourself constantly in PvP.

Wrongheaded argument 2: hunters can't/don't/shouldn't melee. See above--everyone will want to melee you (except other hunters). Since you can't avoid melee, what should you do? If you have the savage strikes talent, your crit chance is raised by 20% for the raptor strike you can do every 6 seconds. Make it count--get a big, slow weapon that will crit for a lot of damage. When they close in on you, take that raptor strike swing for 25-30% crit chance and make it count! Then hit them with a wing clip (which is instant cast) and run. Using a slow weapon is fine because you will be running around between strikes, and all you care about is big damage when you do take a swing.

Wrongheaded argument 3: Hunters shouldn't get warrior/rogue weapons. Since rogues favor fast weapons, I would agree. I also wouldn't bother with any dual wield combinations (despite the populatity of such things in the hunter world, ostensibly to get the max +30 agility enchanting--see argument 1). But hunters need the biggest, meanest 2-hand weapon they can wield. That does put them in conflict with many a mighty warrior. Okay, if the weapon is better than what a warrior already has, let him have it. But if the melee guys already have something better, the hunter deserves to get a shot at a good high damage 2-hander. In a PUG, people are going to be jerks about it. But a guild is just shooting themselves in the foot to deny a high crit weapon to their hunters, especially if they do PvP.

Kang the Decapitator is a great weapon for a hunter. The only alternative I would consider in the 40-49 range is the stoneraven Stoneraven That has almost as high damage and great stats and is easier and cheaper to acquire. But like I said, if you don't melee (PvE carebears), stats aren't that a big a deal anyway. If you do PvP, getting the bleed proc on your opponent really hurts and I would trade it for the stats any day. Why? Raising your average DPS a couple of points won't kill anyone very often, but getting Kang's proc will kill people quite often. Almost winning but losing 99% of the time isn't as good as almost losing but proc'ing for the win 10% of the time. You just raised your victory percentage by an order of magnitude in melee combat!

(If you are tempted to say that the proc is 5%, remember that procs scale by weapon speed. 10% is probably a reasonable estimate, and it could be higher given how slow the weapon is. That is another nice thing about hunters using a slow weapon with a good proc--they get more bang for their buck on the few swings they take in melee combat!)

I got this at around 52 off a dwarf in blasted lands. I decided to equip it. I had been specializing in swords, and using the Blade of the Titans - focusing mostly on stamina and strength equip (Bear).

My question is twofold:
1) Should I not be using this weapon as I am a 54 warr now?
2) Should I respec and re-equip with agility? Also I'm arms/fury - mostly arms.

I guess the other option is move on to a different weapon (Twig of the World Tree perhaps?) and keep Kang for PVP. Oh I added a Fiery because I had a little extra cash, and it was cheap (20g). Obviously Crusader is better - but I don't want to spend 150+g if I shouldn't be using this weapon from now on. Opinions?

How concievable is it for me and my friend to go into BRD and kill Burrowing Thundersnouts over and over until we get Kang twice? A 1/200 drop rate really isn't that bad, it's not what I'm worried about – rather how possible will it be for us to kill the 48+ elites along the way? Currently I am a 46 pally and he's a 47 druid. We can definitely take one 48 elite, but the two at the entrance may be too much. Opinions?

YAAAAAY! i been eyeballin this pretty lil thing for a while, like 400-500g in the AH so figured i'd never have it, but today while i was in the blasted lands, i killed an Ashmane Boar and BAM! obviously this was really really rare for a boar to drop cause its not on the list up there!

im so jazzed about this! this is my 1st character, a lvl 48 Tauren Shaman, this is my 1st epic ever and boy is it a doozie! if you've done the quests inside the blasted lands and thought "man nothing here drops anything!" alls i got to say is OMFG KANG OMFG FHAVGFAKJGBKJBHSRLHBNSE!

My main is a shammy, lvl 50 now, he has Blanchards Stout, so i dont think i will change to Kang. My dilemma:Should I sell it, or give it to 1 of my alts, a lvl 19 warrior. What do u think?

Bought one for 165g. As I am level 46 and it was nerfed slightly, I'm going to try to resell it. If I can sell for 300g or more then I'm selling, otherwise I'm using it. I'll go from a 39 dps weapon to 47 (goddam nerf), which is pretty amazing.

im a hunter it is my first char, im not a twink,i got this by farming and this weapon is awsome i can take on any class and win.
im a survivolist hunter and so my health is increased and dmg reduced this with raptor strike+asp of monkey+ mangoose strike+ counter attack wear down anything
loads of dodge = loads of hits from mangoose strike+ counter attack!

One day i was going to make some quests in The Hinterlands on my 46 lvl priest. I was running from the Revantusk Village. When i was going to hunt some Savage Owlbeast, i saw that gold glowing deer (YES, a gold glowing deer), but i dont remember it name, so i buffed myself and goed to kill it, i started to cast mind blast and when it hit, it charged me right away when the blast hit it and critted me for 2k!(OMG 2K!), coz i had so good reflexes i drinked a combat potion (which you get when your Stone Guard(rank 6)), and it CRITTED me for 3k!(OMG 3K!), then i just casted priests imbashield and started to cast another mind blast. It hitted the deer for 600 and it lost only 2% of its life! It taked couple of hours to win the battle and when i did it, there was like 300 ppl watching me to kill that damn deer! AND WTF HE DROPPED A DAMN STAR RUBY! And few silver! And when i killed it some guy named Son of Golden Deer comed to me and it sayd "Well done young priest, now you have beaten the mighty golden deer of the hinterlands and now your the king of this shattered land.", then he just disappeared and everyone around he clapped and hoorayed! (YAY!) Then i goed to Revantusk Village and goed to sell that ruby (thats really common on my server) and WTF, i could buy this pretty for only 17g (i was revered to Revantusk Village when i killed the deer), so i buy it and gived to my friend who was hunter! He was very happy and gived me a hug. That was a really special day for me.

I bought one of these off some friends that had it drop in Felwood for 50g. Had a +7 DMG enchant put on it and I plan on using it into the mid 50s. The enchant actually puts the DPS up above most early 50s axes. STR is easy to boost with armor/armor enchants, so the +dmg one would probably be better.

Dropped off Nekrum Gutchewer in Zul'Farrak. Dude almost never drops items. =P was pretty nice for a change of pace.

Traded it to a guildy for 75g and an Ardent Custodian. Total profit was about 120 gold. Not bad for my server - Everyone there is painfully cheap.

Got mine a few days back from a Thistleshrub Dew Collector in Tanaris on Frostmourne server. I was grinding for that damn Laden Gland when I saw an ally hunter getting munched on by about 4 of the suckers so I charged, thunderclapped to draw some aggro and took 3 down for him. One dropped Kang the Decapitator and one of the others dropped the gland after about 1.5 hours. Very Happy undead Warrior, and happy NE Hunter who later on stopped a few lvl 60 gankers from killing me.

Well its in the Guldan servers AH as we speak for 180/200 buyout.. which isn't bad. I wish it was a tad lower because im broke now, i even had to sell my hellslayer battle axe.. but this weapon is much better. So right now my 41 pally is using a green for 3 more levels till i can use this. The guy has had Kangs in the AH for like a week and im the first to bid on it.. i told him i would give him his min asking if he could send it right away but he was kinda a @#$% to me and said he wanted to let the auction ride. What a loser. I bid on Kang, and bought a truesilver plate for my RET pally.. it's gonna be a nice day when i hit 44... lol.. oh yah i also spent the 35g and bought the enchant mats for fiery. Does anyone have fiery on their kang? How well do you like it like that?

brought this axe and enchanted with firey weapon. used on a MS build warrior lvl45.

now this baby's doing a heck lot of damage, at 20% crit, i'm typically at around 130-140 dps when grinding same lvl mobs, thats higher than my lvl48 rogue.

when facing many oppoents, simply use sweeping strike, then either reatailation (when you are vastly outnumbered), or just cleave to see the dps go off the chart :))

Does the physical dmg DOT proc stack? If not, why would this be any better than the Taran Icebreaker? The Icebreaker has higher DPS, and as long as it proc'd 3-4x in 30 secs (which seems conceivable esp for a shaman who gets extra hits from windfury) the proc would add up greatly. I guess if you are a war and like axe spec that's one thing... but how about a tuaren shaman?

I got this from the AH for 100g and now i can make 1500dmg crits very easy with Windfury. So I think it`s one of the best Weapons for a Schaman on lvl44-50.

Ok, I don't know much about hunter/shammy/warrior/pala (I'm of the caster type) so my opinion is (wich is probarly wrong) that it's good for all the 4 classes. They all need it in sort of diffrent ways. Warrior uses it constantly. Paladin just auto-attack and heal (gotta have some DPS). Shaman ( Enhancement) Shocks, mellee, heals. Hunter goes mellee in many fight's (when people get to close) and then it's important with a fresh and high DPS weapon. Anyway, if people chooses to use this weapons then it's their choise. And no one here can force them not to.

This is the best axe to have for 44 to possibly somewhere in the 50's. I've had it since 44, and I've been doing massive damage. I managed to MS crit a mage for 997, with no buffs. ^_^ (Mage was 60). I am currently 51 and still using it, got an icy enchant on it too, beast of an axe. Now im waiting for a Dreadforge Retailiator. 51 Human Warrior - Stormscale US server. Recently bought this bad boy off AH for 350g on Nathrezim, i then spent another 30g on it droppin a firey in. I must say its worth the high tag, need i point out the dps, but wherever i go i always get whispers or remarks about the axe and where i got it, exc. Getting you're "hands" on the Kang can be difficult but you'll be the key DPS is most groups, i give it a A-.

AB Farm - Picked up the Zerker buff from the hut. Charged a 44 NE rogue who was capping the flag. 1039 MS crit. 2shot on Leather.

I bought it for 160g yesterday.. the whole guild had to chip in... this together with WF is unstoppable. I kill mobs at least 4+ my own lvl without any problems and instance runs have never been easier. I have it on my lvl 46 shaman. this will probably last me to lvl 55.... back side to it all is I have to harvest gold now to pay back my dept.

I bought one of these for 100g. It's going to my shamman who will be 40-49BG. I have mats for int +22 which i might put on it... Im Stormstrike spec btw. What other enchants could benifit me more that +22?

I just had this drop in Classic Wow. I was farming hinterland turtles. I want to say I killed about 90 of them over the course of my day just casually logging in to skin, then logging out. Waiting to sell it now :)
