Reduces your threat to all enemies within 30yards by 800. It's not like fade as fade only temporarely reduces your aggro, while this is permanent.

Shares the same cooldown as Health and Mana Potions, thus severely limiting the uses of this Potion. Perhaps Rogues/DPS Warriors who don't need health pots on bosses without a cleave/AoE damage? Other than that, I don't see it.

No, it's definitely not a waste. Some of these mobs hit cloth so hard you can't afford to take even one shot from them. You use this *before* it's hit you, and so long as you haven't aggroed too hard, it will go back or stay on the tank where it belongs.

It could stand to dump a little more threat, but it can't be too much. The problem is threat meters exist and with them you can effectively micromanage your aggro. Too much of a dump and it would trivialize many encounters.(##RESPBREAK##)2056##DELIM##adashiel##DELIM##

Basicly this potion could be what Mages are looking for if only the effect would have ANY impact at all. My fireball can crit for 4K, basicly an 800 decrease of the aggro doesn't make much of a difference. If the mob or boss is melee and you just aggroed just hit the key for your limited invulnerability potion and lay low for a little while.

The only situation where this might have some use is if you just took aggro away with blastwave from several mobs. Then the AoE of the potion may be helpfull. Other then that quite a useless potion in this way.

These are indeed worthless potions.

To put it in perspective, 800 threat is the equivalent of approximately 900 damage or 1500 healing (unmodified). Complete waste of a pot cooldown.

Supposedly the effect lasts for 10 minutes, even though there is no buff icon on your screen. So a person could use the potion before a boss, and have their potion cooldown back as you begin the pull. For a healer it could be handy when adds are still being locked down and you're having to toss heals quickly, but otherwise 800 value is pretty light as a fight goes on. If the potion were to reduce your threat by 2% it would be far more useful in scaling during a longer fight.

I've had pulls on trash however, where a bow pull is used then I step up to MC an add, and they switch to me even before the cast completes. This potion would be handy there to put me into negative threat, in theory.

Meaning, even though it shares a CD, potting this before a boss Fight, your Mana/HP will be off CD by the time they are needed. This is VERY good for all classes not needing the aggro. Ragveil is so easy to farm its unbelievable, and Netherbloom isnt difficult either.

This will have no effect if used before the boss fight begins, and will have reduced effect if you are under 1500 threat when you use it.

Does this potion do anything for pets on you in PvP? Maybe use one when you have some hunter pets on you, then stealth/vanish without any trouble...dunno if this would work this way, and I don't PvP enough to test it.

You are all retarded. The debuff it applies to the mob lasts 10 minutes.
If you use this during a fight your threat drops by 800, 10 minutes after using the potion assuming the mob is still alive, you will instantly gain that 800 threat back. Kthx. Now go back to failing at whatever class you play.

This pot is really nice for a raiding warlock. Typically a warlock won't need to use any health/mana pots because of Life Tap + Drain Life, so you'd might as well use a Shrouding Pot to reduce your aggro and give yourself more room for damage.

Soulshatter may have a greater effect, but mobs can resist it and it has a 5 minute cool down. The Shrouding Potion, however, has a shorter cool down (2 minutes) and, can not be resisted. for warlocks, they want to carry a few for when Soulshatter is on its cool down timer or it's been resisted.

How does one pull agro as a raiding warlock? You have soul shatter, 50% agro drop every 5 min? So unless you go all out in the first minute and get argo then can soul shatter and drop 18,000 agro (20 shadow bolts * 90% * 50% = 18,000 agro). If you need to drop more then that in a boss fight use 2 life taps and a health pot, then cast one more Shadow bolt, it will save your healer some work and you will have less agro.
It can be very usefully if you are a class that does not have a agro drop ablity and your not watch OMEN careful. It can easily be much more effective then a Health pot for a boss fight where 1 sec of agro will kill most DPS classes.

This may be worth experimenting with as a druid healer. I've gotten to the point where I pretty much expect that I'll spend part of an instance "tanking" mobs that got loose. Given this is a permanent and not a temporary threat reduction, it might be well worth trying.

Just got this recipe. At revered, you can repeat "Now that we're still friends", "Bring me a shrubbery!", and I think the one for fertile spores. Definitely the first two. Completion of either quest gives 750 rep each time.

On an Underbog run, if you get all of the sanguine hibiscus, you can get between 10-30 on a full run, depending on how long you're in there. You need 5 for the turn in. They respawn in random locations throughout the dungeon. I don't know the interval but it seems to be longer than 15 minutes. If you're done on a full run and are collecting these things, make a second pass through the dungeon when you're done. You'll probably get two or three more ground spawns.

The quickest way to grind it out would be to hold off on questing and farm bog lords until you hit revered. This is an herbalist's dream. I made 1.5k from vendor trash, the occasional green, and auctioning herbs. Stick with the ones in the Dead Mire; they're the easiest to take down and again, if you're an herbalist, there's usually a decent amount of bodies from other people doing quests for you to herbalise.

This is also a good way to collect unidentified plant parts (cenarion expedition rep until honored) and ancient lichen.

Someone over at Thottbot asked a GM about this potion, and apparently, it gives you an invisible 10 minute buff that reduces your threat by 800. Another person proved the buff existed by drinking the pot 2 minutes before a fight, and didn't pull aggro in a test fight with another group member.

It's cool that you can drink it before a fight, but it's useless to DPS classes because 800 is so low. Only helps if you want to throw a AoE without grabbing it off the tank, or if you're a healer afraid of getting healing aggro from multiple mobs.

People saying 800 is "nothing" need to check how much is removed by other abilities. Fade drops 1000 but only for the duration of the spell, whereupon that 1000 comes straight back! Losing 800 for 10 minutes is by far preferable IMO, especially as it can be reused before the cooldown expires meaning you can easily keep the buff active permanently.

Being a warrior I don't actually use these myself, but my understanding of how they work is that it's similiar to a priest's fade. Just an instant knock off in you're current threat.

Im pretty sure that Blizzard is aware of the confusion surounding this potion, why they wont jsut make a blue post about it i dont know. I did the grind got the protion and the best i can tell it does nothing

Here's two reasons why I won't be grinding sporeggar rep to get this:

1) This potion shares a cooldown with mana potions.
2) It is an instant use (much like the priest ability fade), not a duration.

If it was changed to a duration (say 30 minutes) where all abilities generate a certain percentage less threat, then I could see the value.

Also sanguine habiscus turn ins work at honored. I'd imagine they probably will still work at revered, so I'm saving mine and doing the naga quest over and over. I'm not sure if that's really faster than killing giants in say the sporegar cave, but it seems a little more managable to me.

I can make this and my idea is that it reduces your agro like a rogues feint or a cat druids cower. I'm not sure about it but you have no timed buffs or anything when you consume it. You just drink it an that's it.
So it seems to reduce your agro for an unknown amount if consumed but i need to test it in a raid or something to be shure.

I agree with the OP. With Blizzard so concerned about people bypassing content I find it hard to believe that this potion would allow you to simply run into an instance and herb/mine something that is intended to be challenging to get to. It becomes evident when you see more and more mobs that can see through stealth and invisibility in some of these new instances. If this let you exploit game content and possibly solo farm for mats in instances, what would prevent it from bypassing almost everything to head straight to a boss?

Easy way to find out... have someone get aggro on a mob then u attack them an d pull aggro off then use the pot. If it goes back then it is a threat reducer... if not it is an aggro range reducer. Problem solved.

click the "USE" ability and it tells you exactly what it does:

Threat Value: -800
Radius: 30 yards

reduces your threat to any mob within 30 yards of you by 800. This is similiar to priest's Rank 6 Fade (but Rk6 Fade = -820 threat)

as to whether this is permanent like hunter's disengage or temporary like priest fade... probably permanent.

Probably the best use of this is for a DPS warrior, to avoid accidently pulling aggro in a raid (where main tank can't use taunt), instantly stop attacking and reduce aggro. Not the best use for mana user since it's cooldown would conflict with using a mana pot. DPS warrior has no way of reducing aggro. Spammable in an instance like gruul, when coming close to aggro to the offtank.

Also of use for any non-tank for trash pulls, where blowing the potion cooldown doesn't matter since trash pulls don't last long enough to need a mana pot.

This would be an excellent pot if for 10 minutes, it "pulsed" every 10 seconds or so, removing 800 threat each time. So over a 5 minute fight, would reduce aggro by 24k

So... i pulled 2000 threat with a mindblast, and now I can activate my 2min pot cooldown to reduce my threat by 1/3 of one mindblast?

This is a useful potion to have as a healer or dps class prior to a boss fight to make sure the tank holds the aggro the entire fight. I wouldn't be drinking one for the entire instance, but for bosses it will definately be useful.

It's simple, it reduces your accumlated threat with any mob in a 30 yd radius. It's most common use would be like a priest's Fade. Great for Druids who really don't have any way to drop aggro other than to shift to cat and Cower (Very high mana cost to shapeshift, especially considering a druid's comparatively small mana pool.) Not really necessary for Pallys, because they don't gain as much threat per HP healed as other classes, and I'm not really sure about Shammys.

Has anybody used a threatmeter and tried this potion in a controlled environment? As a dps class it's always nice to have options when you make a mistake, get a big "unlucky" crit, or your tank is having trouble. If some numbers showed it makes any meaningful difference i'd be willing to search around for somebody on my server that can make them. (no luck yet...)

Man, ragveil and netherbloom must be nigh impossible to find. And even with all those repeatable quests, Sporeggar rep must be tougher than hoping for a random world drop (or a fortune on the AH).

Ok, I just hit exalted with Sporeggar, and did a bunch of tests with this, and it doesn't really seem to do anything.

It doesn't register on the latest KTM threat meter like feint does (lowering threat by about 800). I figured that the latest meter might just not be programmed to read it right, so I had me and a friend using these pots with very close threat numbers to see if mob would go back and forth when we chugged (like it would with feint or fade) and it didn't.

We also tried to see if it reduced the range mobs would attack you, and while theres really no accurate way to measure this, it didn't seem to change anything. If it did, it was less than like 3 yards. There was also no spell effect that we could see after chugging. Oh, and it does use up your 2 minute potion timer.

So, apparently, this potion is completely useless. Don't waste your time grinding rep for it.

I have had this confirmed with a GM also. Simple Removes 800 Threat in a 30 Yard Radius. I have also have been told by 2 GM's That even though there is no ICON it does provide a 10 Minute Buff to use it. Still I didn't believe any of them because Blizzard hates priest and will do anything to make sure they suffer.

So I did my own tests. My test show that it does provide a buff for a few minutes probably 10 like the GM said. So if it works in that aspect it will work in battle also.

My tests

-Was with a rouge (with no threat reduction talents, ect). I had poped the pot prior to entering combat (2 minutes at least). The Rouge attacked the mob once for 562. I then Mind Blast for 1261. Well I should have only had to do about 732 Damage (30% more threat then the current aggroed persons threat) to pull aggro however I did 1261 and still did not pull aggro. Even though KTM Doesn't reflect it, My threat was only at 461.

Now we thought maybe the mob might have a strange aggro table. So we did it again without the pot (so no threat reduction at all). The rouge did about 624 and I hit for 1093. And I pulled aggro. So its easy to see that the pot does work.

So in Conclusion the buff is there and it works

Again I hate having to use this pot when i could use a mana pot but it could be really useful for healers going into a battle with serveral mobs (due to the split threat healing does). Gives the tank to estbalish aggro with some preventive threat reduction already at play.

If it does indeed give a 10 minute buff that decreases your perceived threat by 800, then the best time to use it would be just before starting a fight, making your initial threat a negative 800. This way you will get the effect without wasting your potion cooldown. This could be particularly useful for the main healer at the beginning of hard-hitting boss fights. More testing needs to be done to confirm this is how the potion actually works though, because this effect seems rather odd.

as a healer this potion has saved my life many many times from kara to usual runs , why , if u TPS increased by a needed big heal or u make a ch this reduces ur threat 800 so for me its a nice pot and i keep farming the mats

It works like this

1 damage = 1 threat, unless explicitly modified by a talent or ability like warrior's defensive stance or revenge ability. (and no crits do not have a threat modifier, that is a myth)

So, if the tank has 801 threat and you've done 1600 damage, you will have 1600 threat and will draw the mob's aggro.

If you drink this potion, you will then have 800 threat and the tank will have 801 assuming he dropped everything the second you pulled aggro. The mob will then return to beat on the warrior. That's why this is not a buff - because once you subtract that 800 threat, it's subtracted and that's the end of the story, it never goes back unless you start doing damage again.

Of course, these numbers are all absurdly small for a 5 man group at level 70. In all probability, if you're a DPS class and you ever pull a mob off the warrior, you aren't going to have only 800 more threat than the warrior, you're going to have 1500 more or worse from a big crit or something similar. In that case, after you use this pot you'll still have 700 more threat than the warrior and you'll be flattened.

This has absolutely no effect on mobs that you are not currently engaged with. This does NOT work like feign death and it will NOT keep mobs from aggroing on you if you are stealthing through an instance. Like every other aggro reduction effect (the cape the sporeling quartermaster sells, soulshatter, fade, etc), it will NOT wipe you entirely off a mob's hate list: If you're the only target around, it will still hit you.

I can see this being marginally useful for classes with no threat reduction abilities, but other than that, for how much work goes into it, this is a pretty crappy potion.

30 yards? So if I have a 36 yard spell and the mob aggroes on me from there, when it enters into the 30 yard radius does my threat suddenly drop 800?

Or if I I'm almost 110% threat from the tank and I move more than 30 yards away, does the threat on that mob go up 800 putting me over the top?

Sure it would enter the 30 yards and reduce my threat by 800 again, but now I'd have aggro until the tank goes to 110% my threat.

Is this how it works? I've read just about everything on the page so if I missed something, please tell me.

800 threat is really small. A rogue can feint multiple times and they're all cumulative, but this potion gives you a temporary buff, which doesn't stack with multiple uses (as someone else already tested.) Even for 5-man bosses, this is negligible after the first 3 seconds. Having said that, this might save you if you're a mage and you drink it before throwing down an AoE or two and you don't think your tank can keep a bunch of critters in line.

When Blizz nerfed Limited Invulnerability Potion, it became so useless as an aggro dispeller that ghost mushrooms became as good as tissue paper with Rag.

Shrouding potion just as useless in 70 instances? The verdict is still out..

You guys are forgetting one class in 70 instances where this would be useful. The enhancement shaman. An enhancement shaman is a melee shaman that gets absolutely no ass-saving or threat-reduction skills except Spirit Weapons, which only gives a chance to reduce threat by 15%. It doesn't work very well. Sure, the 2min cooldown blows but if used near the start of a long fight (where shammies tend to draw the worst aggro through burst windfury crits unexpectedly), you get your cooldown back when you really need it. I am still testing this in raid instances to see how affective it is, but if it works at all, it's still a help to a class that needs all the threat help it can get.

Potential lifesaver if you druid heal. Ask any druid healer if he'd like an oh sh!t button.

This potion is a lifesaver. There are plenty of scenarios where someone accidentally pulls aggro, and if you pop this immediately there's a good chance you'll drop it.

There are posts above complaining that no mage would want to blow this potion and screw up their mana pot timer. It doesn't really matter if you're dead, however, and this potion can save your life. Yes, mages have ice block (soon, all of them will); priests have fade; many other classes have aggro-reduction abilities. Sometimes you need more.

In almost any encounter, especially in a five-man group, a high-DPS class is second on the aggro list. Even with KTM or something else, a couple crits in a row combined with a miss by the tank, or a stun, or any number of other effects, can and most likely WILL bring the DPS class to the top of the threat list. The same applies for healers; yes, they try to stay lower on the threat list, but bad luck happens, and they occasionally pull aggro. The alternative is to not heal, and then the tank dies.

In heroic instances, many mobs can one-shot everyone but the tank, and almost all mobs can kill anyone, including the tank, within about 10 seconds. There just isn't time to take chances if you pull aggro and don't have any other way to drop it.

Even if it's not absolutely necessary, this potion prevents the chaos that is often the cause of a wipe. If the tank loses aggro, often all hell breaks loose. Mobs run towards a caster or healer, everyone tries to react, mages start dropping frost nova to save the healer, meanwhile breaking all the CC in the area; hunters and rogues attack the mob trying to pull aggro so the healer lives, meanwhile putting themselves at risk; in short, everyone does exactly the wrong thing: they try to steal aggro themselves to save a vulnerable party member, at a time when the tank is already off the top of the threat list and is desperately struggling to gain control of the situation.

This potion will save your life, save your entire party, and make you a better player. If you're not carrying one of these, you're either playing easy-mode instances below your potential, or you're causing wipes more often than you should.

It's the "oh &*!@" button, you don't use it every fight.
